So, you’ve stumbled onto my humble little blog. Perhaps you are a Millenial wondering why most of your friends aren’t fully employed. Or wondering why ObamaKare is being shoved down your throat. Or why your generation is on the hook for a national debt that stands at $17 $18 Trillion and counting. Maybe you are scratching your head wondering why your President thinks Global Warming the weather is more worrisome than Islamic Terror. And perhaps you’ve started to become aware there might be something the corrupt and biased lame stream media isn’t telling you. The answer, to these and other existential questions, is ... the Left - specifically, the modern American Progressive. Think of this site as a portal to a richer understanding of this answer, a portal purposely designed with a consciously cock-eyed bent to keep it entertaining. Because the First Amendment is forever and the Internet never forgets. (Plus you better figure out FICA isn't the name of a Swedish bikini model, before she eats your entire paycheck.)

How to use the portal? You could dive into my archive*. I was most active here 2010-2012, but that matters not. How many times do I need to demonstrate the central point? To wit, the political / ideological Left is a menace to the constitutional republic and must be resisted lest the American experiment in liberty devolve into socialist dystopia. If it's the more pointed hand-to-hand combat of the comment board that whets your appetite, click the 'My Disqus Comments' widget. I continue to visit that world from time to time as a light diversion. Or you could browse through my blog roll. It's a very representative collection of center-right blogs, though hardly exhaustive. I can't do the political / ideology thing 24x7, and you probably can't either. Leave that to the hysterical, talking point chanting, mob agitating, race baiting, election stealing, gaia worshiping, straw man torching, Islamic Terrorist appeasing, organized Left (aka OFA, MSNBC, UAW, SEIU, Think Progress, Media Matters, most of legacy media, the politically correct faculty lounge, anybody who belonged to Journolist, anybody connected to Occupy Wall Street, anything funded by George Soros or Tom Steyer, their paid Internet trolls, and the rest of the usual Team Leftie suspects).

Aye, yii, yii, yiiii, I am the Barry Bandito.

Charles Krauthammer has his soap box with its millions of viewers to decry the Lawless President ... I have my staff cartoonist.

Meanwhile, the Pundies ably cover this latest outrage from the Lawless President.

Of course, this isn't the first time we have observed the Lawless President shredding the constitution, and it certainly won't be the last if my republic buys the Faustian bargain offered by the petty little tyrant. Memo to Undocumented Democrats: what this year's Empty Suit can giveth, next year's Empty Suit can taketh away.

Update 6/18/2012

Time for a quick rant. Today, as is often the case in my professional life, I have occasion to work in close proximity to a sizable number of legal immigrants from India and Pakistan. (And strangely enough, the Indian and Pakistani ex patriates always seem to get along just fine in the gentile surroundings of an American office space. But I digress.)

If people on the other side of the globe can figure out how to acquire legal employment here, then I have no sympathies for scoff laws who share a physical border. This is nothing but an election year pander from a lawless demagogue to a lawless voting constituency.

LAS 2011 Review & 2012 Preview (Part 2 of 4)

Part 1 covered domestic conditions.
Part 2 covers foreign affairs.
Part 3 will cover the current electoral situation (probably after the Iowa caucuses).
Part 4 will cover this blog project.

In Part 1, we covered domestic conditions. To quickly summarize: (1) intentionally divisive due entirely to the political tactics of BHO and his corrupt gang of Progressives; (2) standing on the precipice of total chaos due to same. Law and Order will be a big topic next year. 2012 is looking a lot like 1968. That’s the election year that gave us Nixon, btw.

We now turn our attention to the state of foreign affairs with the scandal LAS predicts will become the ‘Watergate’ of 2012. As the following graphic shows, the Fast and Furious scandal has aspects that neatly fit into any / all of the posts in this series. I’m throwing it into the foreign affairs area just because it has Mexico in it. Last time I checked - Mexico is a sovereign foreign nation as we haven’t yet invaded Mexico and made it a territory. For the sake of Law and Order, that is.

This is the Fast and Furious story in a nutshell ... In a politically corrupt effort to score political points around gun control, Eric “My People” Holder’s “Department of Just Us” literally sold military grade automatic weapons to Mexican drug cartels. When this operation was uncovered south of the border, it naturally strained relations will the small part of the Mexican government that is still independent of the drug cartels. But that was the least of it. Eventually – and completely predictably (the truly maddening part!) – American Border Patrol agent Brian Terry was shot dead by one of these weapons. Holder and the rest of his corrupt gang has been stonewalling Brian Terry’s family and the American people on this tragedy ever since. To his credit, the Congressman with investigative jurisdiction, Darrell Issa of California, has been holding Holder’s feet to the fire. The next round of questioning occurs later this month. LAS predicts the confrontation will drive Holder into ever tighter fits of dissembling to avoid accountability for his corruption and incompetence, and this will be his ultimate undoing – maybe even BHO’s.

==

Just as the original genesis for Fast and Furious was this administration’s corrupt domestic politics, the remainder of our foreign affairs review is chock full of situations arising directly from this administration’s domestic political calculus – i.e. pandering to the naïve worldview of its’ Leftist base.

When populist riots erupted in Egypt’s Tahrir Square, Team Leftie misinterpreted events as a grass roots democratic movement – in a country that has no historical experience whatsoever of democracy. Consequently, BHO and Team Leftie actively participated in bringing down a secular dictator who also happened to be an important ally in maintaining stability in that most volatile region. The first couple of rounds of Egyptian “elections” have yielded the result LAS predicted from day one of this diplomatic fiasco – a massive “electoral” victory for fundamental Islamism in Egypt. When BHO and Team Leftie threw Hosni Mubarak under the bus, they effectively threw Israel under the bus with him.

The current state of affairs is a set up for the rise of an Egyptian Islamic Caliphate. The latest turn is more astro-turfed street riots aimed at Egypt’s last remaining stabilizing institution – the Army we have spent 30 years training and arming. Thanks, Barry.

Next, BHO picked a fight with Muammar Ghaddafi, secular dictator of Libya. Once again, naively reading it as an opportunity to use armed force in support of some ill-defined downtrodden and oppressed “peoples”, BHO committed American prestige, treasure, and armed forces to fight on behalf of a loose collection of “rebels” no one could quite identify. His stated rationale was a foolish policy known as “Responsibility to Protect” (R2P) – an open ended blank check to rush in wherever populations are being mistreated by brutal governments. News flash: there are an awful lot of those across the globe - way, way, more than we can possibly police.

BHO was lucky no American blood was spilled. Really lucky, because he unconstitutionally committed US armed forces without so much as a conference call with Congress. (At least Geo. W Bush acquired legislation for both Afghanistan and Iraq). And, of course, Al Qaeda and other Islamic fundamentalists now appear to be enjoying the spoils of victory in Libya. Thanks, Barry.

Now, a secular dictator in Syria is brutally mowing down crowds of civilians with his armed forces. No signs of the Barry admin showing any willingness to invoke R2P here. WTF, Barry? Mubarak was a friend and ally. Ghaddafi was at least neutral with respect to US interests. (Thanks to Geo. W. Bush, TYVM.) Assad is a friend and ally of Iran, and actively involved in waging terrorism against Israel. If there is an argument for engaging any one of these situations, Syria is it. Well, the good news is that at least R2P seems to be thoroughly discredited. That much will be useful in the future.

==

Speaking of BHO’s “inheritance” from Geo. W. Bush we now train our attention on the situations in Iraq and Afghanistan. IMHO, both of these countries are doomed to be under the influence of stronger neighbors ruled by fundamental Islamism in the next stage of their histories.

In Iraq, history will record that Geo. W. Bush started the war, David Petraeus won the war, and Barack Hussein Obama lost the peace.

Whatever went before, President Bush deserves credit for implementing General Petraeus’ “Surge” strategy in Iraq. The immediate result was a military victory not only over Al Qaeda but also various other de-stabilizing proxies of Iran. Through various twists and turns, much heavy lifting by Americans, and much honorably spilled American blood; the end result was a functioning democracy in Iraq. Simply an amazing bestowment to a region of the world otherwise stuck in the 7th Century.

All this nascent democracy needed was sufficient leadership to keep a relatively small contingent of American troops in theatre for the sake of stability. Like the garrisons still in Europe that won the Cold War stand-off with the Soviet Union. Like the garrisons still protecting South Korea from North Korea’s lunatic Kim dynasty. But BHO and his corrupt gang of Progressives weren’t up to the task. They couldn’t negotiate an extension of the Status of Forces agreement, and Iraq is now on its own. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard is consequently making Ramadan 2012 travel plans for Baghdad. BHO is disgracefully claiming a political victory with a so-called promise kept to “end the war.” In fact, he has condemned all of Iraq to Iranian dominance. Thanks, Barry.

Similarly, the Empty Suit Known as Barack Hussein Obama has guaranteed Afghanistan will be under the influence of the Taliban internally, which will in turn enjoy strong ties to its fellow travelers in Iran’s government as well as Pakistan’s security services and government.

BHO "inherited" the perfect set up in Afghanistan - the democracy building and stabilizing influence of a “reach out and kill the enemy when necessary” small garrison. Afghanistan is not Iraq strategically. Afghanistan is a landlocked mountainous region offering no strategic advantage. Iraq, by contrast, literally sits on an important cross-road of civilization (the Tigris-Euphrates river valleys). That’s the fundamental difference. Attempting total military victory in Afghanistan was never the right strategic move. Just ask the Brits or Russians. But still, if you’re going to attempt it, do it right. BHO did it all wrong – ramping up while simultaneously broadcasting to the enemy a date certain for ramping down. Military Science 101 will teach any fool the foolishness of giving your timeline to the enemy. No one on Team Leftie seems to have ever taken Military Science 101, however. They’ve spent all their time in the faculty lounges discussing transgender social and economic justice, or something. Expect the Taliban to be on the rise in Afghanistan next year, as our Army pulls out prematurely.

Osama Bin-Laden is anticlimactically dead. BHO dithered for nine months before pulling the trigger on the special forces capabilities he “inherited” from Geo. W. Bush’s administration. Anwar al-Awlaki, technically an American citizen, is also dead by drone capability developed during Geo. W. Bush’s administration. Some of us still have a problem with the concept of Presidents assassinating American citizens without a due process conviction for treason.

The giant elephant in the foreign affairs room for 2012 is Iran, of course. The so-called “Arab Spring” – now clearly becoming the “Islamist Winter” – has but one common denominator for the close observer. The common denominator is an increase in Tehran’s hegemony over the region.

Tehran’s saber rattling in the Strait of Hormuz is but a sign of Tehran feeling its oats for this very reason. From a foreign affairs point of view, Iran is turning out to be the singular cautionary tale of the BHO administration. In 2009, BHO initiated an appeasement policy toward Iran with his “open hand / clenched fist” Cairo speech. This appeasement policy caused him, in 2009, to forego extending any aid to the authentically democratic Green Revolution. (Where was R2P then, Barry?) Iran barreled forward with its nuclear weapons program through 2010 and 2011.

I just heard KT McFarland, Fox News analyst, predict 2012 is the year the question of Iranian nukes will come to a head. I agree. The Iranian Islamic regime – on record as desiring to “wipe Israel off the map” – will either acquire a nuclear capability in 2012 or western civilization will find a way to prevent it.

This brings me to Israel – the only functioning modern democracy in that otherwise God-forsaken region stuck in the 7th Century. Thank God Israel is being run by Benjamin Netanyahu – former special forces operative and all around stand up guy. 2011 was the year his government wisely decided to start acting in its own interest and told Barry’s administration to take a hike. My personal theory – just a theory – is the recent mysterious explosions around Iran’s nuclear weapons production infrastructure are the work of Israel’s Mossad organization. Whether or not this theory holds water – these explosions are certainly in the interest of Israel’s survival, which makes them in the interest of the continuation of western civilization. For Israel, 2012 will be a year of living at defcon one and a half.

I am also in agreement with what I’ve heard KT McFarland recommend as the best strategy for choking Iran off economically. “Drill Baby Drill!” We need to exploit our copious domestic fossil fuel resources to reduce – maybe even nearly eliminate - dependence on Mideast oil. Beginning now. However, the problem is “now” means a heated national argument leading to a historic election in November 2012.

(Shameless plug for the F=M*A theme that has permeated this blog from inception)

==

The spasmodic street riots that erupted in Greece, the United Kingdom, and other parts of the European Union in 2011 – all foretelling the predictable end game for the socialist welfare state, or any society foolish enough to embrace it – barely even merit mention at this time. We can thank God, I guess, for the temporarily stabilizing force of Germany conquering the rest of Europe with financial loans rather than tanks. Because we here in the USA will be spending the year 2012 deciding for ourselves how much further down the road of socialist moral and financial bankruptcy we will allow ourselves to go.

Sorry “world community”, the USA has had its attention turned inward by its political Left. You’re on your own for 2012. GLWT. See you in 2013 hopefully.

Contemporary Politics and Newton's Three Laws (Part 17)

Bright lines are being drawn all across the republic this summer. Brittle lines - the kind that hold megatons of potential energy just waiting to be released into the flow of history. Divisive, emotional, lines that will deliver profound consequences to the people standing on both sides of those lines when they finally snap. The kind of lines that the DemoHack party has become villainously expert at drawing – as the Backyard Conservative eloquently observed recently.
The president took his opening salvo, starting his campaign a year early, demonizing yet another group of Americans. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) calls him out on the Senate floor as engaging in behavior more akin to that of a third world leader.

==

The National Debt, It is Accumulatin’

Do you think Greece looks like a good vacation spot this summer?

Here is a little video brochure.

This anarchy and chaos is the product of a cradle-to-grave socialist gub’ment running out of other people’s money. The cradle-to-grave socialists (aka rioters) in Greece aren’t very happy about this development, as you can see.

If you agree with these peevish and contemptible dependents of the state, then you must be that one person who is still answering ‘Right Track’ on the American ‘Right Track, Wrong Track Poll.’ And that makes you the person who will be responsible for turning the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave into one giant mob of whiny state dependents unable to process the consequences of running out of other people’s money.

If, on the other hand, you understand the national debt is growing at an outrageous rate due to a gub’ment spending addiction, not a gub’ment revenue problem – then you have the opportunity to take civic action right now – by sending a message to the politicians debating the conditions for raising the gub’ments credit card. Here or Here.

The Tenth Amendment, She is a-Risin’

Do you really want the minutia of your daily life regulated by a small number of ruling elites bumbling about in the District of Columbia?

The Tenth Amendment states:
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

Since the dawn of the American Progressive movement in the late 19th century, statists have been steadily chipping away at the federalist system of de-centralized power the 10th Amendment was intended to protect. Direct levy of income taxes (amendment 16), popular election of Senators (amendment 17), and the alphabet soup of gub’ment agencies that seem to exist in perpetuity once created – brought to you by FDR’s New Deal, LBJ’s Great Society, and various other Progressive meddlers and do-gooders who have been experimenting with the Founding since Woodrow Wilson came to DC. Prohibition of alcohol (Amendment 18), repealed shortly thereafter by Amendment 21, was probably the most foolish overreach on record (so far) for the Progressives.

The steady march toward centralized national power has now reached a point of absurdity that must be resisted, lest the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave be reduced to a wandering mass of drones looking to DC for every little direction.

The good news is, lately, so-called “states’ rights” seems to be making something of a comeback.  The Supreme Court ruled Arizona can require employers under its jurisdiction to use all available tools to verify the citizenship of employees, against the objections of Eric “My People” Holder’s Department of “Just Us.” This is a blow to the not-so-secret DemoHack 2012 re-election strategy having the code name ‘Project Undocumented Democrats.’ The voting bloc known as 'Undocumented Democrats' is under increasing pressure in Alabama and Georgia, as well.

But the leading light guiding the new rise of the Tenth Amendment seems to be the state of Texas, guided by the firm federalist hand of Governor Rick Perry. Under Governor Perry’s leadership, Texas now has a future as the world’s leading incandescent light bulb manufacturing titan.

Not to mention, the always reliable Cato Institute has a plan for other states to follow the path being blazed by Arizona, Alabama, Georgia, and Texas.

The Rules Made By the Ruling Elites, They Are a-Stinkin’

What do you think of the rules these Ruling Elites in DC have made so far?

So, if you are not convinced yet that vesting broad powers in a small ruling elite is a bad idea – well, let’s look at the record, shall we?

How’s that ObamaCare working out for you, so far? I mean, that is, if you haven’t been one of the lucky few chosen by HHS to receive a waiver (in total violation of the 14th Amendment’s “equal protection clause, IMHO).

Are you an employer looking at rising costs? Or thinking about dropping coverage for your employees due to those costs? Are you an employee of an employer caught in this vice? I have a suggestion – get involved with the Repeal movement. And get involved with the solution to replace the ObamaCare monstrosity. The plan is to kick the DemoHacks completely out of power in 2012. A newly elected congress can pass the repeal in early June January 2013, and the new president can sign it on Inauguration day. It’s only 18 months away, folks.

How’s the economy under these Keynesian geniuses working out for you so far? These geniuses are actually planning to run on the ridiculous meme that the biggest, most expensive, Keynesian stimulus program ever rescued the economy! The very same crappy economy you are living in every day nearly three years on from its passage.

Barry’s so-called economic team doesn’t seem to have the stomach to argue in favor of these policies, as Turbo Tax Tim Geithner seems set to join fellow Progressive/ Keynesian architects of these policies such as Christina Romer, Peter Orzag, and Larry Summers in running for hills and away from the debate.

The republic sorely needs a replacement team to be elected in 2012 to free the greatest national economy ever from the malignant clutches of the DC leviathan.

The Southern Border, it is a-Boilin’

Do YOU want our southern border to turn into the Road Warrior movie?

Or, has it already? The border with Mexico has not only turned into an entry portal for Undocumented Democrats, but a convenient security gap for Jihadis as well. (Warning for humorless Lefties: the link provided is intentionally satire, so save your hyperventilating)

But, no worries, the Ruling Elites in DC have come up with a remedy. Under the code name Fast and Furious, Barack Hussein Obama’s Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives has been selling armaments to the Mexican drug cartels. The clever devils. Some of us are wondering if this is the cover up that might lead to a premature departure for the Empty Suit Currently Occupying the Oval Office.

The Sharia, it is a-Creepin’

Do want to continue to live in a nation that is about freedom of speech, assembly, and religion for all citizens; or would you prefer to submit to Allah?

TCOTS explains what I mean regarding the stealth invasion now underway inside the borders of the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.

And who better that the blog actually named Creeping Sharia to sound Paul Revere’s modernized alarm.

Zilla of the Resistance lays out what that means – especially for you patriotic women. Expect Women’s suffrage (Amendment 19) to be the first thing repealed under sharia. Zilla also gives us a nice piece highlighting your ruling elites’ indifference to the First Amendment freedoms that stand between us and sharia.

Bottom line – Mohammed’s Murder Monkey Cult From Hell means to rule the world and everyone in it. Paraphrasing the Fram Oil Filter guy … we can deal with these nut jobs now, or deal with them later.

Confrontational Times, They Are a-Comin’

And now it’s a time for a-Choosin’

Lead, follow, or get out of the way. But be advised - The Progressive Left already has a 120 year old plan and they are not going anywhere.

We can only hope it stays this “civil.”

The problem is the Progressive Left has a history of not playing well with others. The solution is provided by the great Ann Coulter – that is, most of their drone “foot soldiers” have glass chins.

So, let’s make sure their current champion, the Empty Suit Known as Barack Hussein Obama, is facing a different kind of crowd on the campaign trail in 2012. The future of the republic depends on it.

==

Footnote: I enjoy much of Bob Dylan's music - but, man, does he sing off key.

Updates 7/6/11

‘Fast and Furious’ just got a whole lot more interesting today. The Acting BATFE Director decides he’s not taking the fall for BHO and the Progressives. Chairman Issa informs AG Holder the hearings will continue until morale improves.

The link I chose to support the ObamaCare waiver discussion is somewhat dated. It lists a mere 729 waivers issued as of January 28, 2011. The updated count is more like 1400. HHS can’t be bothered to update its table on the Internet, however. Maybe HHS is confused by the Most Shameless Administration in American History being shamed into discontinuing the application process.

Update 7/10/11

The breaking news this hot and humid Sunday morning is very good. It seems the GOP establishment will be standing tall and firm on principle in the debt ceiling negotiations. If they get their two “take it or leave it” conditions – spending cuts exceeding the number of dollars the ceiling is raised, and not one red cent in additional taxes in this soft economy – it will be a very good deal for the republic given the irresponsible third world kleptocrats currently running the White House and Senate.

Also, the lunatic Left is likely to be driven into the streets, in spasmodic demonstrations of violence, if they are once again denied the opportunity to redistribute other people’s money. It’s going to happen eventually anyway, better now than later – same theory as ruthlessly ripping off a band aid.

Barry’s Pyrrhic Victory Lap

The Empty Suit Known as Barack Hussein Obama has been running around the nation this week patting himself on the back for making a decision LibertyAtStake is confident no fewer than 80% of all Americans would have had no trouble making. He will find this victory lap to be pyrrhic.

I love the sensibility offered by the origins of the term ‘pyrrhic victory’ - probably because it connects with my own hyper-developed sense of irony. From the Greek literary tradition, I also like how it tangentially connects to the eastern concept of ‘Karma’ – that is, what one does today sets in motion unseen ripple effects in one’s future.

BHO has created some really bad Karma this week, for the only thing he really cares about all, his re-election in 2012.

==

For starters, after making the ‘gutsy’ decision almost no one would criticize, the week of celebrations exposed total incompetence in the most basic executive function – telling a consistent story.

On Wednesday, the Daily Caller gave us a thorough roundup of the inconsistencies to that date and a commentary with the perfect turn of phrase – victory lap in a clown car.

The follies continued, and on Saturday we had this wrap up from Michelle Malkin.

I mean, really, how hard is it to hold the internal meeting that ends with “that’s our story and we’re sticking to it”?

==

Also damaging to BHO’s re-election prospects in the immediate aftermath of History’s Most Obvious ‘Gutsy’ Decision is what it revealed about his character, and the character of his Leftist fellow travelers.

Even the liberal operative Lanny Davis noted this character defect. It is the Left’s absolute unwillingness to give President Bush any credit whatsoever for putting into place the very policy framework that made BHO’s victory lap possible.

In the spirit of my humble little blog project - which might be summarized as “returning fire in kind” – I have created the following little graphic to more accurately summarize the reality. Earlier this week I had it in my “Snark U.” space with the caption ‘Giving Credit Where Credit is Due.’

The Powerline Blog performed a deeper examination of the ungracious ingratitude demonstrated by BHO and the Progressives.

The character defect of the Left that prevents them from acknowledging President Bush's contribution is: for them all things are political. This mindset leads them easily into fits of intellectual dishonesty that are sometimes tortuous, and often humorous, to watch. In this particular case, acknowledging the now obviously established fact the intelligence trail that led to UBL started with enhanced interrogation would run counter to one of their central political narratives of the past ten years – therefore it cannot be acknowledged and must be whitewashed. The hemming and hawing they are now forced into will have negative political effects for them that are perfectly captured by this Eric Allie cartoon.

BHO himself displayed this very character defect when unexpectedly confronted with the plain fact his administration is engaged in making life a living hell for the very CIA interrogators who made his Sunday night I-Me-My speech possible. When 9-11 family member Debra Burlingame asked him politely to consider dropping the politically motivated charges on these men, Barry petulantly dismissed her.

Taking on his Leftist base by ensuring this case gets dropped immediately – now that would be real political courage. Which is why you won’t see it from BHO.

==

Also exposed in the discussions opened by Barry’s unseemly victory lap is the plain fact his administration has no idea what to do with enemy combatants captured in the War on Terror. This is why every mission is a kill mission – even for American citizens. (I love the line “[t]his week is the week we settle all family business” in the linked Hot Air article.)

The law enforcement centric policy they came into office with has been an abysmal failure, and they can’t fall back on it now for political reasons. They aren’t willing to use the interrogation or detention tools they inherited from the previous administration for political reasons. This means the loss of a vitally important intelligence capability. It also means this administration’s only option for every high value target is assassination. Including American citizens such as Anwar al-Awlaki – and I fault both the Bush and Obama administrations for failing to produce a due process for convicting this pig for treason.

Forthright discussion of these national security issues during the campaign will redound to the benefit of any candidate running against BHO that chooses to raise them.

Let’s hope the early reports that BHO and the Progressives plan to do just that are accurate.

Update 5/10/11

Speaking of bad Karma - the Agitator-In-Chief steps on his crank again while trawling for undocumented Democrat votes.

Update #2 5/10/2011

Just noticed the Karma thing connects to the family business thing because both connect to Michael Corleone.  Man I'm Good, Just Ask Me (MIGJAM).

JACK WILEY DITHERS EXCLUSIVE: ERIC HOLDER’S “MY PEOPLE” MEMO

Our  source at the Department of Justice has leaked Attorney General Eric Holder’s  very first official inter-office memorandum to one of our cracker-jack investigative journalists.  This particular confidential source usually feeds us a raging storm of crap, but this memorandum’s content interested us because it seems to have foreshadowed Mr. Holder’s recent testimony on Capitol Hill.

Read the full memorandum and let us know if we should fire our source at Justice for not leaking this to us sooner.

==

Memorandum

FOR INTERNAL DISTRIBUTION ONLY

To: All Department Staff
From: The Honorable Eric H. Holder
Date: January 21, 2009
Subject: Department Priorities Under My Management

Now that one of my people has been inaugurated as President of the United States, and he has appointed one of his people as Attorney General of the United States, this department’s priorities will be different than you people may have been used to under previous administrations.

As we move through the next eight years of our peoples’ glorious reign fundamentally transforming America, the day-to-day priorities for you people should be guided by one simple rule: what is good for Eric’s people.

For example, it has come to my attention the Civil Rights Division is about to convict a couple of my people for bravely defending a Philadelphia polling place from voters that weren’t their people. You people are hereby ordered to end this illegal witch hunt.

In case you think my people are limited to African-Americans, let me ask you one question: why did I start this memo referring to the President as one of my people? Don’t you know that Oreo has a white mother? Let me close the memo with some hypothetical guidelines to further elaborate.

If, for example, the people of any state on the Mexican border should take measures to protect themselves from illegal Democrat voters, the Department will immediately sue those people on behalf of our people.

If our people in the Homosexual lobby should file suit against the Defense of Marriage Act, the Department will not defend this unconstitutional law. (I just want to make clear for the record I’m not really one of those people, just that there’s not anything wrong with that.)

If an off-shore oil rig should mysteriously blow up, this Department will do everything in its power to cooperate with lawyers in the Department of Interior to ensure those people in the oil industry have to stop drilling everywhere our people have jurisdiction.

Now, I realize some of you people who are career lawyers in this Department may have a problem with these guidelines. Anticipating this issue, I’ve already cleared with our people in your union permission to allow you people to play Solitaire and view pornography on your government PCs. Our people don’t need your help.

If there are any questions about this policy, just ask any of my people I’ve appointed as a Department Undersecretary.

Sincerely.

Eric H. Holder
Attorney General of the United States

Campaign Strategy Exclusive: Jack Wiley Dithers

(AP) – Jack Wiley Dithers reporting.

While checking into the Alexandria, Virginia Radisson hotel on personal, ahem, business; I noticed a number of prominent elected Democrats roaming the lobby. The investigation I immediately launched uncovered a presentation in the Grand Ballroom from the prominent political research firm Light, Leboon, Levin, and Lee. I was able to acquire a copy of the PowerPoint handout carelessly left behind in the Men’s Room.

Our staff of Nobel Prize winning Analyzers agree this is the best possible strategy available to the Democrats in this year’s election cycle. They have also reached a consensus that the Republican Party can gain 50 House seats and 7 Senate seats simply by keeping quiet. They also agree the Republican Party could gain 70 House seats and 12 Senate seats by articulating a principled conservative, pro-growth, constitutionalist agenda. They are presently in the courtyard engaged in a heated debate over whether the Republican Party is capable of such articulation.

LibertyAtStake’s Anatomy of the Blogosphere

Or: A Beginner’s Guide to the Blogosphere - From a Certified Beginner

The following words are contained in the song “We’re Not Gonna Take It,” an integral movement in the rock opera “Tommy,” by The Who.

My name is Tommy
And I became aware this year

These words could be the introduction to any number of timely themes for a post today, substituting “Tommy” for any number of people or groups.

• The American people becoming aware of the destructive agenda the Progressive Left has in mind for their country and way of life.

• The Progressive Left, in a panic, as it becomes aware that the American people are becoming aware of their agenda.

• The Democrat Party becoming aware, far too late in the game, it has been hijacked by the Progressive Left.

• The Republican Party becoming aware, perhaps in the nick of time, that principled conservatism is the path to enduring governing majorities.

• Barack Hussein Obama becoming aware, much later in life than most of us, and with far more profound consequences, that voting ‘present’ doesn’t work when you’re supposedly in charge.

• Pollsters becoming aware that if it walks like a Muslim and quacks like a Muslim, a large swath of the public will come to believe their own eyes.

• Team Amnesty, Team Deficit, Team Enviro, and Team Jihad all slowly becoming aware “We’re Not Gonna Take It” anymore.

• Glenn Beck becoming aware he can make money hand over fist by preaching founding principles.

• The criminally biased MSM becoming aware that those patriotic crowds gathering in the in the streets are mainstream America. Oh wait, the time hasn’t quite arrived for that particular theme.

==

This post is not about any of those things (at least not directly). Rather, it is about me becoming aware of a vibrant ecosystem called the blogosphere.

I did not come to it naturally. My own wife of 18 years has labeled me “anti-social.” My own kids have wondered aloud how I could possibly have any friends at all. I have trouble remembering the names of acquaintances and business associates I have not met personally at least three times. Then, if I don’t meet them again for an extended period of time, the cycle repeats. The concept of maintaining a large network of “BFFs” I’ve never actually met is absolutely beyond my comprehension. Trust me, you will not find me on Facebook nor Twitter. And I’m OK with all of that – I am comfortable in my own skin.

On the other hand, a lifetime of professional experience has acquainted me closely with the concept of applying Information Technology to mission directed systems. So, a particular line of thought came easily to me within the past year or so:

• BHO and the Progressives are obviously hell bent on trashing the Constitution ….
• That really pisses me off because I’m a Conservative …
• What can I possibly do about it …
• Well, there’s this TEA Party thing rising up in opposition to BHO and the progressives, maybe I’ll wade into the crowd and check it out ….
• Hmmmm…this TEA Party thing seems quite visceral, but it could possibly use some grounding in the Conservative principles it has tapped into ….
• Well, blogging technology may have matured to the point where it could be possible to reach a lot of these folks with a free blogger utility …
• {Some messing around online}
• Blogspot seems good enough, let’s get started …

==

The first month or so, I felt like Axl Rose's character getting off the bus in the "Welcome to the Jungle" video.

My original design vision for the blog – essentially writing an online book chronicling these intense times – kept me plowing forward. Among other early lessons, I learned how trivial it is to embed videos – so long as the publisher allows it. Seems like a perfectly libertarian model to me – supporting the free flow of information with respect for property rights.

By February my comment board style was taking full shape. The comment board is a place where a guy can have a good opinionated dust up (aka policy argument) without worrying about doing business or breaking bread with the idiot you just called an idiot. Excellent. It’s the Arena. Don’t step into the Arena unless you are prepared to drop the gloves and get dirt and maybe some blood under your fingernails. The really interesting thing is the key to success here is the same key that applies to so much of the rest of life – good humor. The well structured joke at your opponent’s expense is the Arena’s form of “disagreeing without being disagreeable.” Straight up vulgarity remains unpersuasive in the Arena.

I think it was March when I discovered I could use the Feedjit utility to gain some measure of understanding around who was coming to my blog, and use this information to direct my comment board activity to boards that were bringing people to my blog.  I allowed them to do so by signing my comments with my url. Shamelessly whoring my blog? I recall applying that label to the marketing department myself in the past.

For a brief period, I played a little game with Feedjit. Whenever I commented on Huffington Post, within seconds a swarm of HuffPo readers would follow the link to my right wing extremist blog. Then the effect would disappear. It was absolutely unlike any other effect I’ve observed before or since on Feedjit – exactly like a swarm of bees agitated by Dennis the Menace poking at their beehive. Soon my HuffPo account was banned without explanation. Make of this experience what you will. I am bemused by yet another indicator of Looney Left mob mentality.

If the Leftie Astro-Turf Coffee Party is any indication, the Left Wing blogosphere must be a stale and stultifying place to inhabit – with rigid rank hierarchies and top-down driven agendas. It must be a lot like trying to get anything done in any randomly chosen federal bureaucracy.

The right wing blogosphere I inhabit, by contrast, is a loosely knit and eclectic confederation of  individualists gathering together voluntarily. There are the Aggregators and Amplifiers, who keep those of us who are easily distracted on point. The News Analyzers and Policy Opinionators constantly pre-process it all to lend a bit of initial organization. The Humorists keep it entertaining. The Philosophers connect it all to back to founding principles and a roadmap for the future. Bloggers who stay on my blog roll do so because they consistently fill one or more of these roles for me as a reader.

I think I’m settling into a special sub-division of the Philosopher role – the Predictor. I think it fits. I’ve always been opinionated, and never gave too much of a damn what anybody thought of my opinions.

Prediction: 70-12. That’s the November seat turnover count for the House and Senate, respectively. It’s pre-ordained by Newtonian physics, you know.

When Your Government Goes Lawless

As the news developed throughout Wednesday, concerning Judge Susan Bolton’s illegitimate decision, I found myself getting angrier and hotter, and angrier and hotter. I haven’t yelled at my TV and my radio like this for some time. The decision made me want to crash a La Raza meeting and pick a fight. It made me want to change to banner on my blog to more resemble the banner Angry White Dude uses.

It made me recall the sentiment I shared with my neighbor at a mutual friend’s 50th birthday party, when the Progressives were shoving ObamaCare down our throats. He said, “let the IRS agent come to my door and try to collect the mandate money, he’ll be greeted by three 9 mm sized holes coming back at him through the door.” Believe me, I know this guy. He’s perfectly capable of firing those shots – accurately – from his recliner, without taking his eyes off the big screen, one hand on the trigger, the other hand still actively engaged with the potato chip bowl. I’d probably give the IRS’ hired Barney Fife a verbal warning first, but that’s just me, I’m more tolerant in that way.

In between making a living and living a life, I’ve devoted spare brain cycles to sorting out what got me so hot Tuesday. After all, this is hardly the most outrageously damaging thing BHO and the Progressives have inflicted on the republic. We’ve heard all the pseudo-intellectual analysis on how Judge Bolton cut the loaf in half – ruling it’s OK to say it’s illegal to be illegal, so long as you don’t actually ask the illegal about being illegal.  The substance of the ruling - as flawed as it is - is not the point.  The point is just that such a case could even be heard, much less given a favorable ruling.

The one word that explains what is so anger-provoking about this decision is: RUBICON. When Caesar crossed the Rubicon River with his army, there was no turning back in his campaign to take power from the Pompey and the Roman Senate. In a similar way, this decision will be remembered as the point where BHO and the Progressives crossed a line and became literally lawless in their campaign to destroy the republic.

==

The willingness of BHO and the Progressives to push their ideological agenda against the will of the people and in opposition to the consent of the governed is easy to catalog. So easy, the list can now be recited by any grade school kid with access to information sources other than the public school propaganda machine or the criminally biased MSM: ObamaCare, Gulf drilling moratorium, advancing Cap and Trade, billions upon billions of dollars thrown down the Keynesian rat hole, civil rights enforcement policies dictated by the skin color of the criminals, national security priorities seemingly more concerned with political opponents than the Jihadists who actually blow stuff up, …. etc.

But their decision to oppose S.B.1070 is a plain refusal to fulfill their constitutionally mandated duty to protect the nation’s interests. This is the moment where they have officially become lawless and illegitimate. BHO and the Progressives are firmly defending the interests of a foreign power (Mexico), and a population that has no legal right to be on American soil (the 12-20 Million Undocumented Democrats); against the interests of the citizens of Arizona, their duly elected representatives, and the clear will of the vast majority of American citizens.

==

Now is a good time to review the basic principles of the American Founding.

(1) All people are bestowed with inalienable natural rights by a just creator.

(2) Governments are formed by the consent of the governed and earn legitimacy by serving the interests of the governed.

(3) When a government consistently defies the will of the governed, and consistently acts against the interests of the governed, it is the natural god-given right of the governed to “throw off” (as the Declaration puts it) that government.

These are the principles over which the Founders bravely entered into a shooting war, as the hands-down underdog, against that period’s greatest global military power.

==

Now, let me be clear (I just love when BHO says that, especially when he's in full dissembling mode) - I’m not advocating any shooting here. (But do keep your powder dry, Patriots – the Founders gave us the 2nd Amendment for good reason.)

I am indeed advocating active resistance to the illegitimate governance of Barry’s regime, using the model practiced by Martin Luther King during the Civil Rights movement.

The updated model is demonstrated by Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who will continue to ask the illegals about being illegal, in open defiance of Judge Bolton’s illegitimate ruling  That's the spirit, Joe, let's see how the news plays out if Barry has the guts to send somebody down there to serve an arrest warrant to Sheriff Joe.

The updated model is also demonstrated by the nationwide grass roots Nullification movement, promoting the legitimate 10th Amendment protected right for the people and the states to ignore the health insurance mandate. I noticed in the news recently that Missouri is acting to defend its 10th Amendment rights.

The updated model is demonstrated by Corey Stewart, chairman of the Prince William (Virginia) Board of County Supervisors, who has been quoted as saying it's "full steam ahead" for Virginia's version of S.B. 1070.  It's also demonstrated by Maryland Delegate Pat McDonough, who has made pushing an S.B. 1070 style bill in his state his cause.  That’s the spirit, let’s see if BHO and the Progressives can find 50 judges as muddle-headed as Susan Bolton.

And, most amazingly, several Senators actually managed to wake up from their midday slumber long enough to call out the Regime on its illegitimate schemes to grant amnesty procedurally.

Memo to BHO, the Progressives, and La Raza: You’re not getting amnesty, period. You’re not getting “reform” of any kind until We The People are satisfied the government is actually doing its job and enforcing existing law. You can get the “reform” part in due time, through an orderly and constitutional process, if you choose to cooperate.  Or you can keep taking it out into the streets – and quite possibly piss us off to the point where mass deportation really does become the new consensus. Your call. Why don’t you listen to the obscure Kinks’ gem “Hard Way” while you reflect on your decision.

Update 8-5-10

I mentioned the Missouri ballot initiative to reject ObamaCare above, before the vote was held.  The news of the day yesterday (while I was traveling) included reports of an overwhelming popular vote against ObamaCare.  We've come a long way since the Townhall season of 2009, just about a year ago.  Let's review what happened to one Missouri Democrat hack when things were just beginning to heat up.

This particular Democrat hack wasn't listening to his constituents then, and has yet to do so - he still carries the stench of a 100% Pelosi Index.  I expect this hack will be shown the door by "Show Me" state voters come November.  Don't let it hit you in the a$$ on the way out, Russ.  We have a lot of cleaning up to do with the mess left to us by the likes of you.

An Insider’s View of White House Campaign Strategy

(AP) – Jack Wiley Dithers reporting.

Our cracker-jack investigative journalism team has acquired audio tape from a campaign strategy meeting recently held at the White House. If it were a video tape, or at least a high quality audio tape, we would have sold it to Breitbart. However, the audio recording device was stuffed inside our White House source’s shoe, so this transcript will have to do.

Unidentified Voice: Somebody wake up Harry.

Harry Reid: {snort!} {ack!} THIS WAR IS LOST!

Nancy Pelosi: {sigh} Wrong election, Harry.

Joe Biden: OK, Barack is out on the trail stumping for a candidate, so I’m in charge here.

James Clyburn: [sounding sarcastic] Who’s the lucky bastard? Hope it’s Alvin Greene.

{entire room laughs heartily}

Joe Biden: Gibbsy, you takin’ minutes?

Robert Gibbs: {mutters something under breath}

Nancy Pelosi: You’re lucky to have the job, Baghdad Bob.

Joe Biden: OK, let’s get started.

{Sound of door opening. Sound of ‘Hail to the Chief’ playing from an iPod speaker.}

Joe Biden: What are you doing here?

Barack Obama: Greene couldn’t cover the campaign event, because the Senate didn’t approve his UI check soon enough.

Barack Obama: OK, let’s get started. What are we doing here? Gibbsy, you got the agenda?

Robert Gibbs: {mutters something under breath}

Nancy Pelosi: What did I tell you?

Barack Obama: OK, who do we have on the conference line?

{15 seconds of silence}

Nancy Pelosi: {sigh} Do I have to do everything myself?

Beep! {Dial Tone} Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep!

Machine Voice: Welcome to the White House Live Conferencing System. Press 1 to join a conference, press 2 to manage your personal account, press 3 to replay an old conference recording, press 4 to manage your recording options, press 5 to start a new conference, press 6 for more options.”

Beep!

Machine Voice: Press 1 to enter your White House Live Conferencing System user id.

Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep!

Machine Voice: Enter your White House Live Conferencing System password, followed by the pound sign.”

Barack Obama: Michelle, that’s your cue, heh-heh.

Michelle Obama: {mutters something under breath}

Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep!

Nancy Pelosi: Who do we have on the conference?

George Soros: George.

Andy Stern: Andy here.

James Carville: [sounding agitated] What the hell took you so long! You gotta get somebody on that phone pad, man! You gotta show some leadership!

Bill Ayers: Can we just get started? I have to give a lecture on the history of domestic terrorism soon.

Barack Obama: OK, we got an election coming up and my poll numbers are in the tank …

Nancy Pelosi: [interrupting] Geez, it’s always about you, Barry. You’re not up this cycle, we are.

Harry Reid: Yeah, me too!

George Soros: You people are pathetic. Can I just get a report on what I’m getting for my Astro-Turf money?

David Axelrod: Yes, sir! There’s the Coffee Party …

George Soros: [interrupting] What a joke!

Valerie Jarrett: Well, we also have that “Other 95” thing …

George Soros: [interrupting] DOA! Plouffe, are you on the line?

David Plouffe: Yes, sir!

George Soros: Anything good from the Internet trolls?

David Plouffe: I think we’ve uncovered the identity of that ‘LibertyAtStake’ guy.

Click! Click!Click!Click!Click!

David Plouffe: Ah, here it is. OK, … our man ‘JournoListIsGreat’ has evidence his real name is …

Click!Click!

David Plouffe: Hunter S. Thompson.

George Soros: {sigh} I’m outtahere. Talk to ‘ya next week.

Click.

James Carville: [sounding agitated] You gotta energize the base! Tell the illegal immigrants they won’t be able to get ice cream anymore! Get ‘em out to the polls! Get some Panthers out to those polls! Make sure everybody knows the TEA Party is full of racists! Make sure everybody knows BP is full of British people! Get Michelle out to some NAACP meetings! You gotta show some leadership here!

Andy Stern: I know just what to do. How many buses do you think you’ll need in November? 5, 6 thousand?

Barack Obama: Sounds about right. OK, what’s for lunch?

Michelle Obama: We’re having McDonald’s catered in. The kids wanted Happy Meals.

The Most Racist Administration Ever?

Why in the world would I feel compelled to ask such a question? I mean, weren’t we told Mr. Barack Hussein Obama was the post-racial candidate by the criminally biased (and sometimes government owned) MSM.

Here’s why.

As Ms. Malkin points out (from her uniquely qualified “minority” status), this administration has given us ample reason with its actions to consider this question.

This Department of Justice, under the pathetically clownish leadership of one Mr. Eric Holder, decided to give a mere slap on the wrist to a two-bit unwashed thug carrying a baton and issuing racial slurs at a polling place. For no other reason than because the miscreant was black (or is it African-American now? What is the Congressional Black Caucus position on this vital question?) – you can take that much to the nearest bank that hasn’t been nationalized yet.

This is the same Mr. Eric Holder who told the nation at large we are “cowards” on matters of race at the onset of this administration. Please allow me to address Mr. Holder directly. You, sir, are the coward here. You had the chance to do your job on a “matter of race,” and chose to duck under your ornate desk. Let’s not even get into your unwillingness to say “radical Islamic Jihadist.” Come on, say it with me, jerk – “radical Islamic Jihadist.” Say it again. Come on, don’t be a coward, now … jerk.

No one can say the signs weren’t there before Mr. King Samir Shabazz was caught on tape bearing his racist soul to the world.

During the campaign we learned, no thanks to the criminally biased MSM, that Mr. Barack Hussein Obama had spent nigh on twenty years listening to the racist rantings of one Rev. Jeremiah Wright. I’m not exactly sure, but I think Mr. Barack Hussein Obama’s motivation was “street cred” with a constituency that was majority black (or is it African-American now? What is the Congressional Black Caucus position on this vital question?) – you can take that much to the nearest bank that hasn’t been nationalized yet.

And who remembers the Beer Summit circus? Who remembers Mr. Barack Hussein Obama precipitating this very circus by knee-jerking his assessment the “police acted stupidly.” For no other reason than because the guy put in cuffs was black (or is it African-American now? What is the Congressional Black Caucus position on this vital question?) – you can take that much to the nearest bank that hasn’t been nationalized yet.

===

Now, before I’m tarred by this administration with inciting racism (wait, maybe I already was) , allow me to transition to my real point.

Despite head-faking the entire nation into a false “post-partisan” narrative, Mr. Barack Hussein Obama and his cronies are running the most hyper-partisan administration in history. And the partisanship springs from the well of Leftist Ideology.

Enslavement to Leftist ideology explains why this administration can sue Arizona for enforcing existing federal immigration law, while incongruously not lifting a finger against so-called “sanctuary cities” that openly flout existing federal law.

Enslavement to Leftist ideology explains why this administration will undoubtedly sign off on a “financial regulation reform bill” that deals in racial and gender quotas. (Are you reading this Mr. 41?  Don't take the RINO bait.)

Leftist ideology is all about dividing the masses by race, class, and gender. During the election of 2008; if you were a minority, a woman, or making less than $200,000 annually; you may have been head-faked into believing Mr. Barack Hussein Obama was one of you. Trust me, he’s not – unless of course you are enslaved to socialism, Marxism, communism, Progressivism, or some other variety of Leftist ideology.  Progressivism is my conclusion, but that's immaterial here.

BREAKING NEWS – PRESIDENT TO HOLD JULY 4th PICNIC FOR HEADS OF STATE

(AP) – Jack Wiley Dithers reporting.

Our cracker-jack investigative journalism team has learned President Obama will be holding a Top Secret Camp David picnic on July 4th, for selected world heads of state. Certified White House Genius Valerie Jarrett told our source this picnic was a continuation of the administration’s new diplomatic outreach to the rest of the world. We have been able to obtain some of the correspondence that has gone into planning the event.

Afghani President Hamad Karzai declined, but said he was keeping his options open for July 2011.

Chinese Premier Hu Jintao accepted the RSVP, but with a note saying he insisted on approving all the purchase orders for event planning.

The leaders of Brazil, Turkey, and Iran all suggested a game of poker – on the condition it would be just them and Mr. Obama at the table. Kim Jong Il, Supreme Leader of North Korea, suggested bobbing for apples carved into the shapes of South Korean naval vessels. The North Korean leader is also scheduled to take on Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in a Festivus Feats of Strength match, to determine who gets to run the fireworks display at the end of the evening.

The Indian Prime Minister accepted on the condition he could assign his own security detail. The Mexican President’s invitation was the only one that included the words “go ahead and bring along as many friends and family as you can.”

Russian President Dimitry Medvedev initially said he needed to check with Vladimir Putin for permission. Mr. Medvedev then said he would participate on the condition of removing the Ant-Ballistic Missile (ABM) systems that protect Camp David and the rest of DC. The reply from Mr. Obama was “don’t be silly, no such thing exists. Come on over, dude.” Our sources at the Pentagon are nervous about the possibility of Mr. Obama actually asking whether such a thing exists. It might present an ethical dilemma.

Vice President Biden is scheduled to provide entertainment of an unspecified nature. Former Vice President Al Gore is scheduled to give a PowerPoint presentation on something kind of scientific-ish. Weather permitting.

The Prime Ministers of Israel, Great Britain, and Germany were sent invitations to a separate July 5th gathering; at which the plans included serving leftovers, listening to taped recordings of Mr. Obama’s old speeches, stupid pet tricks with Bo the dog, and VP Biden providing entertainment of an unspecified nature. July 5th was also the rain date for Mr. Gore’s PowerPoint presentation. However, none of these leaders accepted, so the July 5th event has been scrubbed.

Retiring The Conservative Ascendancy Thermotron 2010

This post shall be the final update to the Conservative Ascendancy Thermotron 2010. According to the Nobel prize winning physicist who designed it, a conservative electoral landslide in November is already assured by its present readings.

The Events meter already reached 10 two updates ago. With the original design constraints already exceeded , we now have “Obama’s Watergate” (the Joe Sestak affair) and “Obama’s Katrina” (the BP oil spill) to simultaneously consider. The stars are aligning nicely for the Conservative Ascendancy, indeed.

Despite candidate Obama’s high minded promise to end business as usual in DC, the statements issued by the White House and Joe Sestak have raised more questions than they have answered. This sordid affair now is pregnant with the possibility of becoming “Obama’s Watergate.” The timing of the statements – Friday afternoon before Memorial Day weekend – stinks to high heaven, because it looks they are trying to bury something. Using the impeached liar Bill Clinton as an intermediary stinks to high heaven, because it looks like they knew they needed to distance themselves from it. Claiming the quid pro quo was an unpaid position stinks to high heaven, because it’s highly implausible. The White House contacting Sestak’s brother stinks to high heaven, because it looks like they are covering their tracks. I say separate the conspirators for isolated questioning by a skilled prosecutor - under oath. This is the only way we will ever get to the bottom of whether the attempt to remove Sestak from the primary was merely clumsy and unethical, or in fact illegal.

“Obama’s Katrina” is the catalyst behind a draft essay I’ve been working with – “Why Can’t Government actually DO Anything? (Because It’s Government, Stupid).” But I think I’ll save that one for next time. After all, the crisis still continues with the well still not plugged, despite the Smartest President Ever taking charge four whole days ago. What’s taking so long, Mr. President? Maybe you should hold another Press Conference, or better yet, give a teleprompter speech - that’ll do it.

And by now, the whole country has heard about James Carville’s meltdown on Good Morning America. This makes the man who coined the political phrase “it’s the economy, stupid” (during Mr. Clinton’s 1992 election) the Leftie Lunacy poster child – because he is representative of the Left’s irrational and emotional fantasy belief in the government's ability to solve all problems. Of course, the Leftie Lunacy meter was already pegged at 10, making its contribution to the inevitability of a November electoral landslide without Mr. Carville's help. His meltdown is therefore actually meaningless except for its entertainment value, which is considerable.

GOP / TEA Party alignment is looking good as well. TEA Party patriots are settling into the role of a movement that can act independently and locally to push events on the street, as evidenced by this weekend’s “Stand With Arizona” rally. However, the movement needs an organized political party to do its bidding, if it is to be really effective. The GOP is lately showing every sign of falling into line with its assigned role.

In the last Thermotron update we already mentioned Representative Eric Cantor’s (R-VA) “You Cut” project. Mr. Cantor brings one vote to the House floor per week, based on our input. Last week’s vote would have saved us $30 billion by freezing Federal employee pay – but the Democrat majority shot it down.

Now we have Representative Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) “America Speaking Out” project. And even the normally staid and buttoned-down National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) has tuned into the mood of the TEA Party movement, and released this hard hitting video (hat tip to Ruby Slippers).

I think I’ll retire the Thermotron with the GOP / TEA Party alignment meter stuck on nine (9), rather than ten (10). The GOP is, after all, still an organization composed entirely of professional politicos. But at least now it looks like they could become our politicos. Let’s make sure it stays that way. It will require vigilance by We The People for several years to come yet.

It is now definitely a foregone conclusion the Democrats will lose control of the House, and the Senate too. Remember you read it here first (unless Dick Morris already said it, I can’t remember). However, remember that leaves seven months for the Progressive gang to shove as much as they can down our throats before January 2011. It’s who they are. It’s what they do.  Liberty vs. Tyranny USA 2010 will not be concluded until the last Progressive desk is cleaned out on Capitol Hill.

And, of course, the Progressive gang will still be scheduled to hold the Executive branch throughout 2011. The good news is We The People will at least have enough power in the Legislative branch to fight a fair fight in the stalemate that now sets up for Liberty vs. Tyranny USA 2011. The really good news We The People will also have effective control over the relevant congressional investigative committees. Consequently, the Thermotron is retired with the probability of impeachment for Barack Hussein Obama set at 2 out of 3; the same ratio needed in Congress to override a Presidential veto.
