So, you’ve stumbled onto my humble little blog. Perhaps you are a Millenial wondering why most of your friends aren’t fully employed. Or wondering why ObamaKare is being shoved down your throat. Or why your generation is on the hook for a national debt that stands at $17 $18 Trillion and counting. Maybe you are scratching your head wondering why your President thinks Global Warming the weather is more worrisome than Islamic Terror. And perhaps you’ve started to become aware there might be something the corrupt and biased lame stream media isn’t telling you. The answer, to these and other existential questions, is ... the Left - specifically, the modern American Progressive. Think of this site as a portal to a richer understanding of this answer, a portal purposely designed with a consciously cock-eyed bent to keep it entertaining. Because the First Amendment is forever and the Internet never forgets. (Plus you better figure out FICA isn't the name of a Swedish bikini model, before she eats your entire paycheck.)

How to use the portal? You could dive into my archive*. I was most active here 2010-2012, but that matters not. How many times do I need to demonstrate the central point? To wit, the political / ideological Left is a menace to the constitutional republic and must be resisted lest the American experiment in liberty devolve into socialist dystopia. If it's the more pointed hand-to-hand combat of the comment board that whets your appetite, click the 'My Disqus Comments' widget. I continue to visit that world from time to time as a light diversion. Or you could browse through my blog roll. It's a very representative collection of center-right blogs, though hardly exhaustive. I can't do the political / ideology thing 24x7, and you probably can't either. Leave that to the hysterical, talking point chanting, mob agitating, race baiting, election stealing, gaia worshiping, straw man torching, Islamic Terrorist appeasing, organized Left (aka OFA, MSNBC, UAW, SEIU, Think Progress, Media Matters, most of legacy media, the politically correct faculty lounge, anybody who belonged to Journolist, anybody connected to Occupy Wall Street, anything funded by George Soros or Tom Steyer, their paid Internet trolls, and the rest of the usual Team Leftie suspects).

Foreign Policy in a Word (Big Debate Edition)

So, we got us a big foreign policy debate Monday night.  What is foreign policy about, anyway?

In a word – leadership.

==

The word is definitely not “experience” – at least as it applies to the usual pool of presidential candidates.  If it were about “experience,” Crazy Uncle Joe Biden would have parlayed all those years on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, all that time being spectacularly wrong about almost every issue coming before the committee,  into a completed Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) with the government of Iraq.  But he couldn’t get the agreement done, and the first (barely) functioning Arab democracy in human history is more vulnerable for it.

Ronald Reagan was roundly deprecated by DC liberal elitists for lacking foreign policy “experience” when he came into office – and all he did was win the Cold War.  RR won the Cold War by exercising leadership.  He realized the Soviet Union / Warsaw Pact / Iron Curtain was in fact a paper tiger.  He held to this vision, proving even his own CIA bureaucracy dead wrong about the Red Russian economy’s capacity to support an arms build-up, and goes down in history as the leader who said “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall.”  The wall came down under the competent, but far less inspiring, stewardship of his successor, Bush 41.

That’s what leadership is about in a nutshell – vision and the will power to consistently do the work,  and make the decisions, necessary to further that vision, day in and day out.  Provided the vision is solid, and the strategies and tactics employed in its service effective, the leader can accomplish great things.  If the leader leads, that is … which, by the way, is always done from the front, never from behind.

==

Let’s review the foreign policy record of the Empty Suit Known as Barack Hussein Obama with regard to “leadership”, shall we?
He definitely had a vision.  He made this vision perfectly clear to all the world with his big Cairo speech of 2009, and the subsequent Apology Tour, with all of the strange bowing to foreign monarchs.  He was going to be the trans-national, post-American, therapeutic President who would make the whole world sing ‘kumbaya’ after he admitted to all of America’s past imperialistic sins.  It was a vision alright.  “Naïve” hardly begins to describe it.

Immediately after inviting the mullahs in Tehran to grasp his extended open hand, something called the “Green Movement”   erupted in Tehran.  This was a genuine opportunity to effect regime change from within and avoid the world we now stand on the precipice of living in: mullahs with nukes.   However, the Empty Suit was convinced he must kowtow to the mullahs to get them to play nice, and therefore failed to lift a finger to assist the Green Movement, which was then subsequently crushed.  From there we have witnessed American hikers held hostage with no discernible cost to the mullahs, one feckless round after another of ineffective UN sanctions, including the issuance of waivers to 20 or so countries, all now clearly leading to the ultimate policy failure -  a radical Islamist nation state deeply embedded in worldwide terrorist networks and possessing nuclear weapons.

Apparently learning completely the wrong lesson, or applying the right lesson to an entirely inappropriate context, or something – the Empty Suit later acted to effect regime change in Egypt.  That was the Egypt that was a reliable ally and critical peace partner with Israel under Hosne Mubarak.  That Egypt is no more.  Egypt is now run by the Muslim Brotherhood, under the “presidency” of the radical Islamist Mohammed Morsi.   Egypt’s peace treaty with Israel is for all intents and purposes null and void.  Fortunately for Israel, I guess, Morsi’s greatest concern temporarily seems to be the United States releasing the “Blind Sheik” – that is, the Egyptian man responsible for the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.   For awhile the news was thick with rumors this administration was willing to deal for his release.

The Empty Suit was on a roll in the Middle East when the so-called “Arab Spring” reached Libya.  His UN Ambassador Susan Rice convinced him to bomb the snot out of the Libyan Army in support of a gang of mixed nut Islamists no one could quite categorize.  Leading this naïve policy called “Responsibility to Protect” from behind, the Empty Suit created a vacuum of governance that has been filled by who the hell knows what.  Whatever it is, it has resulted in the deaths of four Americans in Benghazi, and a cover-up from this White House.

Leadership?

The Middle East is on a rocket sled speeding toward war thanks to the Empty Suit’s foreign policy.  But the Empty Suit has found time to make us weaker and more vulnerable in other parts of the world as well.  In relation to Vladimir Putin’s Russia – aka USSR v2 – he has bargained away European missile defenses for not so much as the promise of a blown kiss.  Even with that, thanks to an open microphone, we know he’s prepared to be even more ‘flexible’ with the Russian dictator after the election.  Whatever the hell that means.  Afghanistan looks to be, at best, headed toward exactly the same place Bush 43 left it after the implementation of the Empty Suit’s brilliant half-ass surge with date certain withdrawal strategy.

The Empty Suit began this campaign peddling the assassination of Osama Bin Laden as the sum total of his foreign policy record.  As if the guy who has been hiding in a cave for ten years (or was it living under the witness protection program offered by a two-faced “ally”?) was still really running the operation for Mohammed’s Murder Monkey Cult From Hell in 2011.  When all hell broke loose on September 11, 2012 the Empty Suit tried to protect this lie with another lie – that radical Islamist riots all over the globe were independent spontaneous reactions to a movie for which practically no one had even seen the YouTube trailer.  While running with this lie, the so-called "leader of the free world" brought all the power of his Justice Department down on the hapless film maker.  In other words, he showed the world he favored sharia law over the First Amendment to the US Constitution.

On that same day, in Benghazi, Libya - a catastrophic failure of State Department security resulted in the death of an Ambassador, two Navy Seals, and Information Management Officer Sean Smith.  The Empty Suit’s administration has dissembled, waffled, and contradicted itself about what happened there for going on six weeks now.  In other words, they are engaged in a cover-up.  And that means there’s something they don’t want us to know.

Leadership?

==

Look, folks, it’s called the Executive Branch for a reason.  The job is about making executive decisions and leading.  There is nothing – nothing – in the past experience of the Empty Suit that prepared him for this job.  He is first and foremost a creature of the faculty lounge – a universe of endless discussion and boundless relativism.  A person could spend years in the US Senate without learning a single thing about leadership – see Crazy Uncle Joe Biden for the proof – much less the cup of coffee the Empty Suit had up there.  The closest thing to “executive” experience the Empty Suit had prior to his ascendancy was something called “community organizing.”  As far as I can tell, this mostly consists of riling up mobs of maladjusted malcontents as an intimidation tactic designed to coerce wealth from other people.

Mitt Romney, on the other hand has a resume chock full of executive leadership credentials.  Whether its rescuing bankrupt companies at Bain capital, rescuing the 2002 Salt Lake Olympic games, or running a state as Governor, he’s already exercised the skills he’ll need as President: develop policy, and manage its implementation.

Memo to the Mittens campaign – the word is Leadership.  And that’s your foreign policy debate advice.

==

Update 10/22/12

LAS has a few more questions related to foreign policy "leadership" for the Empty Suit.

Why is the Fort Hood Jihadi attack still classified as 'workplace violence'?  Is it to save a few bucks at the Veterans Administration by denying combat injury benefits to the victims?

Do you regret sending Bibi Netanyahu home hungry on March 23, 2010?

If you get credit for Seal Team Six killing Bin Laden, who gets credit for tipping off the Taliban concerning which helicopter they were riding in?

Did the Queen of England tell you whether or not she liked your speeches?

Is kosher an option for meals at Gitmo?

Post Debate Analysis

The Empty Suit had talking points diarrhea.  Mittens looked all leadershippy and commander-in-chiefly.  Scheiffer mostly minded his P’s and Q’s.  Game over.  Get ready to say “President Romney.”

R U Ready To Become a Benghazi Truther?

I'm not ready to subscribe to this conspiracy theory. (hat tip to commenter @JaneLovesJesus on the Nice Deb site)

However, the plain fact is everything I've learned over the past three years of blogging about the corrupt international leftists in the current administration gives me no reason to discount the theory out of hand.

And that is why the American people need to ensure they are thrown out of town like the flea-bitten dogs they are, on November 6.

We don't need anymore of their ilk around here, exemplified by well known 9-11 Truther Van Jones.

Is it time for the "People died, Obama lied" bumper stickers yet?

A few demotivational posters I was able to throw together courtesy of diy.despair.com ...

Yeah, what we need is more of these people literally telling us what to eat.

The Empty Suit has a record now. It sucks.

The Empty Suit has another record. It's pure chaos.

What the hell were these hacks thinking when they threw a reliable ally under the bus to the advantage the Muslim Brotherhood?(image: Big Peace)

Still wondering why the Redistributionist-In-Chief wants me to pay for Sandra Fluke's contraceptives, yet he can't spare a thousand bucks for his own blood brother.(image: Tracy's Right)

And I haven't even gotten to media bias, Fast and Furious, the pathetic irresponsibility that is failing to pass a budget three years running, the dangerous irresponsibility of prioritizing Letterman and the View above the Israeli PM and daily intel briefings, Taxmageddon, Sequester, 'Flexibility' with Russia, ObamaCare aka the biggest tax hike in history, direct responsibility for 60% of all-time deficit spending, ...

Upon Reflection ...

... regarding the recent mayhem inflicted upon planet Earth by Mohammed's Murder Monkey Cult From Hell at embassies all around the world.

So-called "unrest" doesn't just coincidentally arise in two dozen or more distinct Muslim populations at the exact same time. I mean, it's a religion of "peace," right? Nope, these events give off the whiff of planning and coordination on a massive scale.

So, the question becomes who has the capacity to plan and coordinate on such a scale? Surely not Al-Qaeda. The Speechifier-In-Chief has told us UBL's demise was "game over." Who then? A nation state? I mean, wouldn't it take the resources of a nation state to plan and coordinate action on such a scale? Perhaps a nation state with an a transparently stated interest in picking a fight with the so-called 'Great Satan.' Then there is this modus operandi of attacking embassies. Hmmmm. Seems to me we've seen this movie before. Specifically, 1979.

Deduction points to Tehran as the source of this madness. But why now? Even barbarous lunatics will choose the time and place of the fights they pick. Perhaps Tehran is feeling good about its chances picking this fight because they feel they are close to building a nuke.

Ruh-roh.

Too bad for western civilization the so-called "leader of the free world" is handling the situation more like he's the Dhimmi-In-Chief.

Postscript

Disgraceful display of anti-American tyranny. Last time I checked, if bad film-making were a crime, Michael Moore would be in prison showing off his moobs right now.

Update 9/18/12

My contribution to the Meme Collection For the Ongoing War With Mohammed's Murder Monkey Cult From Hell.

Update #2 9/18/12

And on that little matter of spontaneity or planning and coordination ... the Empty Suit's official story is unraveling. From Nice Deb...

Nine Thoughts on the Eleventh Anniversary of 9/11

(1) The so-called "War on Terror" is a conflict between incompatible civilizations. On one side is the target - western civilization, sprouting from the principles of free will introduced to mankind by the Age of Enlightenment. On the other side is the aggressor - Radical Islamism - a religiously political ideology stuck in a backward 7th Century model of tyrannical dictation to its followers.

(2) The US Constitution and sharia law are completely and utterly incompatible.

(3) They don't hate us for anything we've done. They hate us because their ideology instructs them to hate infidels.

(4) We have been relatively safe over the past eleven years due to thousands upon thousands of unheralded heroes quietly doing the work they were born and/or trained to do in the context of America's exceptional opportunity society. These heroes labor in the FBI, CIA, and various other agencies including the uniformed armed services. These heroes write computer programs, utilize "gamer" skills flying unmanned drones, analyze telephone wire recordings, drive humvees through god-forsaken landscapes, and perform a thousand other functions I could not possibly fully catalog.

(5) These unheralded heroes continue to keep us safe despite the failed leadership of the current administration.

(6) The geopolitical situation in the Middle East grows more dangerous by the day, and Radical Islam grows stronger there, because of the failed leadership of the current administration.

(7) Ultimately, western civilization surviving this conflict depends on American global leadership, which is not being provided by the current administration.

(8) If Tehran acquires the ability to deliver nuclear warheads into the population centers of western civilization, it will be due to the failed leadership of the current administration.

(9) Western civilization should thank God it has an independently led outpost named Israel to take care of business while we are stuck with the failed leadership of the current administration.

Family Business

I seem to have a bad case of writer's block lately. Always on the look out for man, woman, or child to exploit (as any conservative would - just as Barry O'Bama); I have commissioned my 13 year old son as staff cartoonist.

Last week he came to me seeking ways to earn money. You see, he is saving up for yet another guitar. He presently has three: a cheap entry level acoustic, a low end affordable electric, and a nice Gibson Les Paul electric. I have advised him to save up for a nice acoustic. I only see him looking online at uber-expensive electric models. Ah, the boundless possibilities wound up in youth.

But I digress. In response to his fund raising need, I told him I'd pay union sweat shop wages for cartoon contributions to the LAS project.

The very same day he came forward with this ...

It was good enough to recognize as a sophisticated commentary on the state of US - Iran relations. So, I changed plans and agreed to pay.

A couple of days ago, he asked for my input on the next cartoon idea. I was mentally drafting a post with the working title 'The Big Lie,' to examine Barry O'Bama picking up the preposterous claim made by some nut job named Rex Nutting that his administration has been a comparative skin-flint with gub'ment spending, and expanding that into the plainly obvious fact he is literally running an anti-capitalism campaign. I came up with the idea of Barry O'Bama as a matador slaying the famous Wall Street bull statue. After I explained what a matador is, and what the statue is, he came forward with the following:

I thought the bull looked more like a giant pig, but I paid up anyway to encourage further growth.

==

'The Big Lie' has evolved into 'The Chameleon-In-Chief' as a vehicle for chronicling Barry O'Bama's capacity to be one thing to one audience and something completely opposite to another audience.

Ooh look, something shiny! (Writer's block.)

Barry's Baffling Boondoggle to Afghanistan

Did you hear the Empty Suit Known as Barack Hussein Obama gave a campaign speech to the American people from Afghanistan? I’m sure you must have, because his lickspittle propagandists in the mainstream media made it their mission to ensure you did.

I’ve scoured the Intertubes looking for the price tag passed on to the taxpayers for Barry’s Baffling Boondoggle. Well, actually, I entered a simple search phrase into Google’s search engine, and the only actual estimate on page one did not come from any mainstream media source. The best answer I could find on page one was a ‘back of the envelope’ estimate from a 3 year old trip to the same locale. The citizen estimate came out to around three million bucks.

That’s one expensive nothing-burger in the slowest economic recovery since the Great Depression. But chump change compared to the now more than five *trillion* bucks of new national debt the Empty Suit has bequeathed the republic with his failed governance. So I’ve chosen to ‘largely ignore’ this calculated diversion. (That’s a dig at the MSM constantly describing the violent mob known as OWS with the mealy-mouthed phrase 'largely peaceful.')

I will only note one stylistic point that has escaped the attention of every other analyst (as far as I can tell). Am I the only one who has noticed Barry has the annoying habit of striking the lectern with his hand to punctuate statements, in the manner of a petty dictator? Just listen to the continuous thump-thump-thump rhythm on the ubiquitously available video of Barry’s speech. It’s enough to make a guy nostalgic for Benito Mussolini, Adolf Hitler, Nikita Kruschev, or even Dwight Schrute.

==

No, I choose instead to catalog the lengthy list of bad political news for Team Obama that he and his slavish water-carriers in the corrupt and biased liberal media wish to distract you away from noticing, by staging and promoting Barry’s Baffling Boondoggle to Afghanistan.

A ‘white hispanic’ (the new media term coined for George Zimmerman) going by the name of Jose Rodriquez, who also happens to be the former CIA Director of CIA Clandestine Operations, is doing the book promotion tour thing – and exposing Team Obama’s mendacious politics in relation to enhanced interrogation techniques employed against illegal enemy combatants in the War on Terror.

Previously unknown to anyone, Elizabeth Warren, Team Obama’s candidate to reclaim the Ted Kennedy Senate seat from Scott Brown, is apparently a ‘white Cherokee’ - and disappointed she didn’t get the high cheek bones.

Team Obama’s shock troops in the Occupy movement – known here as Barry’s Malingering Mob of Maladjusted Malcontents – made a generally very unimpressive street level showing during the big ‘general labor strike’ on the May Day.

Obama’s Solicitor General, fresh from having his ass handed to him in Supreme Court arguments on the ObamaCare individual mandate, just took it on the chin again in oral arguments over Arizona SB 1070.

One of Team Obama’s many unaccountable Czars of Some Damn Thing is feeling the blowback for some very uncivil political discourse.

Team Obama’s Attorney General, Eric “My People” Holder, is on the fast track to conviction for contempt of Congress based on his stone walling of the Fast and Furious investigations.

==

To sum up, I couldn’t say it any plainer than columnist Michael Goodwin – Obama is Desperate and It Shows.

Obama will do anything, say anything, to distract attention from his failed record of governance.

His foreign policy is a complete train wreck – the one and only public “success” is OBL’s assassination, which any President would have ordered and no American has any problem with. So ‘gutsy!’ When this week’s spiking of the football celebration is over, he has nothing else of substance to point to. And foreign policy will take a back seat to his lousy economy in this election, anyway. So, basically, he has nothing of substance to run on – except the predictable politics of division and gub’ment income redistribution panders he will drag out of the Leftist ideological grab bag. Running around the country falsely ginning up fears of student loan interest rate increases shows the template that will be repeated again and again.

Which is why my next substantive post has the working title ‘How Stupid *is* My Republic?’

Jack Wiley Dithers Exclusive: The Israeli Diplomatic Cables

(AP) – Jack Wiley Dithers Reporting.

Last weekend, an ambitious member of our cracker-jack investigative journalism team won a drinking game, and consequently a bet, with his Mossad contact. The Mossad man seems to have temporarily forgotten about the inverse relationship between physical fitness and tolerance for adult beverages, before foolishly taking on our portly investigator in his prime element. Mossad’s loss is our gain, and yours as well, dear reader. To pay off his debt, the Mossad man has delivered to us the following diplomatic cables between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and American President Barack Hussein Obama.

Sunday Morning Read (Washington Times Edition)

If you wish to keep up with the news and politics of the day, you could do a lot worse than subscribing to the Washington Times email list. The Times has long (since 1984, that is) been the conservative alternative to the Democrat / Leftist propaganda organ known as the Washington Post. In 1984, WaPo stood alone on the local newspaper field, after the prior year’s demise of Washington’s previous “other newspaper” – the Washington Star. The founding of the Times filled a competitive hole in the ideological information landscape.

The Times was founded, and funded at a loss, by New World Communications, until 2010. (I don’t know, but I’ll bet it’s still running at a loss under new ownership.) New World Communications is an international media conglomerate with holdings in other interesting places like Japan, South Korea, and South America. New World Communications is also associated with the Unification Church and its’ founder Sun Myung Moon. The Times, as you would expect, has often been the butt of jokes implying it is “cultish,” based on this association with the “moonies.” On the other hand, you might be able to see the possible interest a South Korean religious figure with deep financial resources might have in funding right leaning voices for religious freedom. South Korea, after all, happens to be located immediately south of North Korea – that militaristic socialist (i.e. fascist) regime, run by the lunatic Kim family dynasty.

==

I subscribed to home delivery of the Times’ paper edition off and on for many years. Every couple of years or so the phone would ring while I was sitting at my desk paying bills or something, and a disembodied voice would offer me a great deal on trying the Times (again). My agreement would produce the unintended consequence of barely read, ink soaked, dual folded papers stacked up on my porch, waiting to be placed on the curb for the recycling industry. I would fail to proactively renew the subscription, then the phone would ring at my bill paying desk some time later, and the cycle would repeat.

When the time honored phone call arrived this past week, I told the disembodied voice ‘no thank you, I’m already on the email list.’ (The advantage for me - I barely ever read the emails, either, but at least the unread bytes don’t produce an unsightly pile on my porch.) The disembodied voice accepted my answer on face value and politely moved on to her next call. I’m not sure how the Times can survive this environment, but that’s not my problem to resolve right now.

Instead I’ll post on today’s delivery of the Times’ Top Stories and Opinion pages to my email inbox. The three part format is as follows: The original Times link, my alternative heading matching it to this blog’s theme, and a reprint of the comment I left behind as LAS. All the comments immediately went into moderation – I presume due to the harmless little url signature I habitually include – as is the right and privilege of the Times’ staff, of course. This post will allow me to circle back and audit their moderation standards.

Obama will drain Strategic Petroleum Reserve to fund re-election campaign.

LAS Comment
Draining the Strategic Petroleum Reserve will be a "two-fer" for Barry. In the short term it helps his re-election prospects by artificially lowering prices. After the election, it won't be there to offset his second term agenda to drive prices through the roof. And he will ruthlessly pursue this second term agenda - no question.

The Senator and the Transportation Sandusky Administration (TSA) Flap

(To 'sandusky' is a verb now in use by the gang of unsocialized miscreants my 7th grader runs with. The things kids will come up with.)

So, anyway, this blogger invited the blogosphere to engage in thoughtful discussion regarding the strange case of the jackbooted airport brownshirts (the blue shirts are a clever disquise) detaining the duly elected Senator from Kentucky.

I was voluntarily unable to participate on this particular blogger's comment thread, because this particular blogger uses WordPress as her commenting system and I long ago wrote off that configuration as a huge pain in the arse to be avoided. According to my early experience with this whole blogging thing, WordPress apparently requires a distinct password for each and every WordPress serviced site, and that's simply too hard for this simple mind to keep up with.

Now, don't get me wrong - I often enjoy this particular blogger's writings (rantings), that's why she retains her highly sought after place on the Bob Schieffer Blog Roll.  I am simply prohibited by individual choice from interacting directly on this particular blogger's site due to this particular blogger's poor (in my view) choice of commenting systems.

==

So, I guess I'll just have to start the sorely needed erudite discussion thread here on my site.

First of all, we have reached a truly dark age for the constitution when low level bureaucrats equipped with intentionally faulty machines feel empowered to detain and harass a United States Senator. Read the last sentence, first paragraph, Article I, section 6; then get back to me kiddies. You, Ezra Klein, can hire a translator if you want, because it was written a really long time ago, or something.

Number two - the TSA, in its present configuration, was never necessary. Setting aside the debate over private vs. government agency staffing - trampling on the Fourth Amendment rights of each and every traveler to protect all from the criminal intent of a few easily profiled (there's that word! eek!) criminals has always been a ridiculous farce at best.

Number three - there is still time to eliminate the TSA and implement an Israeli style profiling and interviewing system. It's been working for them for decades. The only reason it hasn't been given a chance to work for us is the scourge of Political Correctness inflicted upon the republic by our political Left.

Profiling is not racism. Profiling is smart police work. Period. End of sentence.

LAS 2011 Review & 2012 Preview (Part 2 of 4)

Part 1 covered domestic conditions.
Part 2 covers foreign affairs.
Part 3 will cover the current electoral situation (probably after the Iowa caucuses).
Part 4 will cover this blog project.

In Part 1, we covered domestic conditions. To quickly summarize: (1) intentionally divisive due entirely to the political tactics of BHO and his corrupt gang of Progressives; (2) standing on the precipice of total chaos due to same. Law and Order will be a big topic next year. 2012 is looking a lot like 1968. That’s the election year that gave us Nixon, btw.

We now turn our attention to the state of foreign affairs with the scandal LAS predicts will become the ‘Watergate’ of 2012. As the following graphic shows, the Fast and Furious scandal has aspects that neatly fit into any / all of the posts in this series. I’m throwing it into the foreign affairs area just because it has Mexico in it. Last time I checked - Mexico is a sovereign foreign nation as we haven’t yet invaded Mexico and made it a territory. For the sake of Law and Order, that is.

This is the Fast and Furious story in a nutshell ... In a politically corrupt effort to score political points around gun control, Eric “My People” Holder’s “Department of Just Us” literally sold military grade automatic weapons to Mexican drug cartels. When this operation was uncovered south of the border, it naturally strained relations will the small part of the Mexican government that is still independent of the drug cartels. But that was the least of it. Eventually – and completely predictably (the truly maddening part!) – American Border Patrol agent Brian Terry was shot dead by one of these weapons. Holder and the rest of his corrupt gang has been stonewalling Brian Terry’s family and the American people on this tragedy ever since. To his credit, the Congressman with investigative jurisdiction, Darrell Issa of California, has been holding Holder’s feet to the fire. The next round of questioning occurs later this month. LAS predicts the confrontation will drive Holder into ever tighter fits of dissembling to avoid accountability for his corruption and incompetence, and this will be his ultimate undoing – maybe even BHO’s.

==

Just as the original genesis for Fast and Furious was this administration’s corrupt domestic politics, the remainder of our foreign affairs review is chock full of situations arising directly from this administration’s domestic political calculus – i.e. pandering to the naïve worldview of its’ Leftist base.

When populist riots erupted in Egypt’s Tahrir Square, Team Leftie misinterpreted events as a grass roots democratic movement – in a country that has no historical experience whatsoever of democracy. Consequently, BHO and Team Leftie actively participated in bringing down a secular dictator who also happened to be an important ally in maintaining stability in that most volatile region. The first couple of rounds of Egyptian “elections” have yielded the result LAS predicted from day one of this diplomatic fiasco – a massive “electoral” victory for fundamental Islamism in Egypt. When BHO and Team Leftie threw Hosni Mubarak under the bus, they effectively threw Israel under the bus with him.

The current state of affairs is a set up for the rise of an Egyptian Islamic Caliphate. The latest turn is more astro-turfed street riots aimed at Egypt’s last remaining stabilizing institution – the Army we have spent 30 years training and arming. Thanks, Barry.

Next, BHO picked a fight with Muammar Ghaddafi, secular dictator of Libya. Once again, naively reading it as an opportunity to use armed force in support of some ill-defined downtrodden and oppressed “peoples”, BHO committed American prestige, treasure, and armed forces to fight on behalf of a loose collection of “rebels” no one could quite identify. His stated rationale was a foolish policy known as “Responsibility to Protect” (R2P) – an open ended blank check to rush in wherever populations are being mistreated by brutal governments. News flash: there are an awful lot of those across the globe - way, way, more than we can possibly police.

BHO was lucky no American blood was spilled. Really lucky, because he unconstitutionally committed US armed forces without so much as a conference call with Congress. (At least Geo. W Bush acquired legislation for both Afghanistan and Iraq). And, of course, Al Qaeda and other Islamic fundamentalists now appear to be enjoying the spoils of victory in Libya. Thanks, Barry.

Now, a secular dictator in Syria is brutally mowing down crowds of civilians with his armed forces. No signs of the Barry admin showing any willingness to invoke R2P here. WTF, Barry? Mubarak was a friend and ally. Ghaddafi was at least neutral with respect to US interests. (Thanks to Geo. W. Bush, TYVM.) Assad is a friend and ally of Iran, and actively involved in waging terrorism against Israel. If there is an argument for engaging any one of these situations, Syria is it. Well, the good news is that at least R2P seems to be thoroughly discredited. That much will be useful in the future.

==

Speaking of BHO’s “inheritance” from Geo. W. Bush we now train our attention on the situations in Iraq and Afghanistan. IMHO, both of these countries are doomed to be under the influence of stronger neighbors ruled by fundamental Islamism in the next stage of their histories.

In Iraq, history will record that Geo. W. Bush started the war, David Petraeus won the war, and Barack Hussein Obama lost the peace.

Whatever went before, President Bush deserves credit for implementing General Petraeus’ “Surge” strategy in Iraq. The immediate result was a military victory not only over Al Qaeda but also various other de-stabilizing proxies of Iran. Through various twists and turns, much heavy lifting by Americans, and much honorably spilled American blood; the end result was a functioning democracy in Iraq. Simply an amazing bestowment to a region of the world otherwise stuck in the 7th Century.

All this nascent democracy needed was sufficient leadership to keep a relatively small contingent of American troops in theatre for the sake of stability. Like the garrisons still in Europe that won the Cold War stand-off with the Soviet Union. Like the garrisons still protecting South Korea from North Korea’s lunatic Kim dynasty. But BHO and his corrupt gang of Progressives weren’t up to the task. They couldn’t negotiate an extension of the Status of Forces agreement, and Iraq is now on its own. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard is consequently making Ramadan 2012 travel plans for Baghdad. BHO is disgracefully claiming a political victory with a so-called promise kept to “end the war.” In fact, he has condemned all of Iraq to Iranian dominance. Thanks, Barry.

Similarly, the Empty Suit Known as Barack Hussein Obama has guaranteed Afghanistan will be under the influence of the Taliban internally, which will in turn enjoy strong ties to its fellow travelers in Iran’s government as well as Pakistan’s security services and government.

BHO "inherited" the perfect set up in Afghanistan - the democracy building and stabilizing influence of a “reach out and kill the enemy when necessary” small garrison. Afghanistan is not Iraq strategically. Afghanistan is a landlocked mountainous region offering no strategic advantage. Iraq, by contrast, literally sits on an important cross-road of civilization (the Tigris-Euphrates river valleys). That’s the fundamental difference. Attempting total military victory in Afghanistan was never the right strategic move. Just ask the Brits or Russians. But still, if you’re going to attempt it, do it right. BHO did it all wrong – ramping up while simultaneously broadcasting to the enemy a date certain for ramping down. Military Science 101 will teach any fool the foolishness of giving your timeline to the enemy. No one on Team Leftie seems to have ever taken Military Science 101, however. They’ve spent all their time in the faculty lounges discussing transgender social and economic justice, or something. Expect the Taliban to be on the rise in Afghanistan next year, as our Army pulls out prematurely.

==

Osama Bin-Laden is anticlimactically dead. BHO dithered for nine months before pulling the trigger on the special forces capabilities he “inherited” from Geo. W. Bush’s administration. Anwar al-Awlaki, technically an American citizen, is also dead by drone capability developed during Geo. W. Bush’s administration. Some of us still have a problem with the concept of Presidents assassinating American citizens without a due process conviction for treason.

The giant elephant in the foreign affairs room for 2012 is Iran, of course. The so-called “Arab Spring” – now clearly becoming the “Islamist Winter” – has but one common denominator for the close observer. The common denominator is an increase in Tehran’s hegemony over the region.

Tehran’s saber rattling in the Strait of Hormuz is but a sign of Tehran feeling its oats for this very reason. From a foreign affairs point of view, Iran is turning out to be the singular cautionary tale of the BHO administration. In 2009, BHO initiated an appeasement policy toward Iran with his “open hand / clenched fist” Cairo speech. This appeasement policy caused him, in 2009, to forego extending any aid to the authentically democratic Green Revolution. (Where was R2P then, Barry?) Iran barreled forward with its nuclear weapons program through 2010 and 2011.

I just heard KT McFarland, Fox News analyst, predict 2012 is the year the question of Iranian nukes will come to a head. I agree. The Iranian Islamic regime – on record as desiring to “wipe Israel off the map” – will either acquire a nuclear capability in 2012 or western civilization will find a way to prevent it.

This brings me to Israel – the only functioning modern democracy in that otherwise God-forsaken region stuck in the 7th Century. Thank God Israel is being run by Benjamin Netanyahu – former special forces operative and all around stand up guy. 2011 was the year his government wisely decided to start acting in its own interest and told Barry’s administration to take a hike. My personal theory – just a theory – is the recent mysterious explosions around Iran’s nuclear weapons production infrastructure are the work of Israel’s Mossad organization. Whether or not this theory holds water – these explosions are certainly in the interest of Israel’s survival, which makes them in the interest of the continuation of western civilization. For Israel, 2012 will be a year of living at defcon one and a half.

I am also in agreement with what I’ve heard KT McFarland recommend as the best strategy for choking Iran off economically. “Drill Baby Drill!” We need to exploit our copious domestic fossil fuel resources to reduce – maybe even nearly eliminate - dependence on Mideast oil. Beginning now. However, the problem is “now” means a heated national argument leading to a historic election in November 2012.

(Shameless plug for the F=M*A theme that has permeated this blog from inception)

==

The spasmodic street riots that erupted in Greece, the United Kingdom, and other parts of the European Union in 2011 – all foretelling the predictable end game for the socialist welfare state, or any society foolish enough to embrace it – barely even merit mention at this time. We can thank God, I guess, for the temporarily stabilizing force of Germany conquering the rest of Europe with financial loans rather than tanks. Because we here in the USA will be spending the year 2012 deciding for ourselves how much further down the road of socialist moral and financial bankruptcy we will allow ourselves to go.

Sorry “world community”, the USA has had its attention turned inward by its political Left. You’re on your own for 2012. GLWT. See you in 2013 hopefully.

A Funny Thing Happened On the Way To the Nomination

The only thing more breathlessly unhinged than a Leftist mob is a Ron Paul mob.

Late yesterday afternoon, I stumbled into a well written article on the Daily Caller site by a Ron Paul devotee named Jack Hunter. As anyone familiar with my intertubes genius would expect, I dropped a comment stating my position on some aspect of the article, with my standard signature linking back to my blogspot archive.

I briefly considered commenting on my agreement with the author that Herman Cain was wrong in his support of TARP. If we never bailed out the damn banks in the first place, we’d already be well into the recovery today – and without Leftist mobs in the streets demanding the bailout riches – which have all been paid back - be redistributed to them today (presumably for even more expensive tents).

I let it go though – because I know Herman Cain to be educable and pragmatic (meaning ‘practical’, not ‘unprincipled’) as an executive. I’ve seen him do it. Perhaps in a future post, I’ll explore why I find the sins of my other “not-Romney” favorite – Newt Gingrich – more egregious; i.e. falling for the Global Warming hoax and being slow off the mark embracing the TEA Party movement.

I chose instead to comment on the importance to get on with the primary process of finding the ‘not-Romney’ on principled grounds. As well as looking ahead to the possibility Romney can still win, and we may need to suck it up and be big boys come general election time. Which will mean embracing Romney as ‘not-Obama’ (with noses firmly held, of course).

==

Comment board chaos ensued. Frankly, I should have anticipated it, given who I was dealing with. But I failed to, and now I have to write this damned post. ;)

A swarm of Ron Paul devotees jumped on the thread to frantically push their man’s case. Some of the content, and the whole attitude of it, is entirely unhinged. You can read it for yourself.

The swarm failed to abate even after I told them to read my March 1, 2010 blogspot post for a comprehensive read designed to put the discussion to rest, and allow us to at least agree to disagree.

Actually, I should have anticipated this would be a fruitless offer. I suspect most of this swarm have never taken a breath from ranting long enough to read and comprehend that many words all at once.

The swarm still continues this morning. Trust me when I tell you I could make a game of causing it to continue as long as I cared to, inclusive of “endlessly.” Or in the spirit of Hunter S. Thompson, I can now simply report on my experience from the thick of the fight. At least having my character and motives mischaracterized, misunderstood, and smeared on a comment board is lighter duty than getting beat up by the Hell’s Angels (an actual HST episode).

==

The core problem with the Ron Paul mob is a wicked mix of two character defaults; a naiveté about how the world works, and a religiosity around their devotion to their candidate. This, as a matter of fact, if you replace the word “candidate” with “ideology,” is the same axis of character defects that makes Jihadis an existential threat to the planet, and Leftists an existential threat to the constitution.

Sure To Earn a Barosckar

Earlier today, I left a 'Random Dropping' on the excellent Gateway Pundit (GP) site.  I have since decided it is worthy of elevation to archivable post, and not just because it's an unusually long bit of comment board snark.

The set up is a GP post concerning a portrayal of BHO's singular achievement - the UBL assassination - that Hollywood has in the works.  The end product is sure to be a propagandist hack job worthy of mention alongside 'Reefer Madness.'

Jack Wiley Dithers has an advance copy of the screenplay outline. 5:45 AM 5/1/11 – Report comes in identifying UBL’s location. 6:00 AM 5/1/11 – BHO directs the Navy to create an elite unit to be called the SEALs. 11:45 AM 5/1/11 – BHO and FLOTUS conduct SEAL tryouts at Camp David. 2:45 PM 5/1/11 – BHO and FLOTUS begin planning the operation. 3:05 PM 5/1/11 – BHO and FLOTUS call meeting with summon national security staff to reveal the operational plan. 4:00 PM 5/1/11 – BHO to Andrews for a quick round of 18. 7:00 PM 5/1/11 – BHO calls commander on the ground to make last minute tactical planning adjustments. 10:00 PM 5/1/11 – BHO dons X-Box headset and gives the ‘Go’ order. 10:00 PM thru 11:00 PM – BHO gives specific real-time orders to SEAL operatives through the X-Box. 11:15 PM – BHO calls in summons national security staff for after action report. 11:30 PM – BHO calls in summons David Plouffe and Valerie Jarret to prepare heroic statement to the serfs. Fade to black …

So, How’s ‘President AA+’ Workin’ Out Fer Ya?

‘Historic.’ ‘Unprecedented.’

That’s what the corrupt and incompetent MSM told you the 2008 election of the Empty Suit Known as Barack Hussein Obama would be. And the corrupt and incompetent MSM was only the most subtle part of the, largely Soros Inc. funded, Progressive propaganda machine, that convinced you the empty slogan ‘Hope and Change’ was a policy of governance.

Well, now there’s a record. How do you like it? Historic and unprecedented enough fer ya? Do you wish you paid more attention to what was behind the curtain in 2008?

==

The blogger known as Doug Ross has made deft use of this clever graphic to make two salient points:

(1) The Empty Suit’s economic record certainly sucks (raw data published April 12, 2011)

(2) It is not at all unreasonable to conclude it sucks on purpose (persuasive opinion published March 4, 2009)

I have maintained a small series of posts myself, known as the ‘Stupid or Treasonous’ series, since January 4, 2010 – in which I ask myself essentially the same question: are Barry and his corrupt gang of Progressive hacks intentionally wrecking the whole damn place? (note: Simply type ‘Stupid or Treasonous’ into this blog’s Search Box to explore how I’ve explored this question)

==

There are fresh updates in the news feeding into the ‘Stupid or Treasonous’ thought process.

On the economic record front, the reliable (that is, always on schedule) bureau-weenies at the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) came out with their mandated quarterly GDP projection – which demonstrates the Empty Suit’s economy certainly does still suck.

I’ll take this opportunity to update my own graphic tracking the (non)progress of Barry’s dysconomy. (Side note: Anticipating a subsequent update, pending the by now completely expected downward revision of this quarter’s projection)

My method is to compare and contrast rates of economic growth under the gub’ments officially designated ‘Reagan Recovery’ and the gub’ments officially designated ‘Obama Recovery’ (soon to be known as Obama’s double dip recession, IMHO).

This comparison is about as black and white as it will ever get. Reagan pursued supply-side economic policies almost exclusively, whereas Obama has pursued demand-side gub’ment spending policies entirely exclusively.

LAS Conclusion: The inflexible Progressive ideologues in your current administration are stuck on Keynesian stupid (read my May 11, 2011 post for further exploration).

In the always unpredictable sphere of foreign affairs, we have the sad news of the greatest single day’s loss of American life since we’ve been in Afghanistan.

LAS Conclusion: The clueless Progressive ideologues in your current administration have never understood how to wage war. The sad truth is the Taliban is energized and mobilized because BHO was stupid enough to broadcast to them his politically motivated withdrawal timeline. Twice!

We also have news from Syria and Egypt demonstrating the so-called ‘Arab Spring’ isn’t going so well for the interest of democracy.

LAS Conclusion: The clueless Progressive ideologues in your current administration have never understood how to conduct foreign affairs to the long term furtherance of democracy. They were stupid enough to throw a valuable ally for maintaining regional stability under the bus in Egypt, stupid enough to waste the military intervention option on a poorly defined engagement in Libya, and now find themselves with no effective options for opposing a brutal dictator in Syria. This brutal dictator in Syria will now essentially become a proxy for the Iranian mullahs, who are emerging out of all of this with a newly ascendant hegemony in the region. The Iranian mullahs have zero interest in democracy, you can be sure of that much.

==

Well, dear reader, now I must report there was a specific turning point in the Great Debt Ceiling Debacle of 2011 that made me turn the corner from ‘stupid’ to ‘treasonous.’ It was when BHO blew up the so-called ‘grand bargain’ he was negotiating with Speaker Boehner at the eleventh hour. When the deal was practically closed – with total ‘deficit reduction’ numbers totaling up to Standard and Poor's $4T cut line – BHO sandbagged Boehner with a 50% increase in the 'ask' on his side of the deal (gub’ment revenues). This negotiating move was breathtakingly ‘stupid’. But only if you maintain the assumption BHO wanted a deal. So breathtakingly ‘stupid’ I had to conclude he *never did* want a deal. He *must* have wanted to blow up the deal. This conclusion is only supported by the plain fact BHO never put a written plan on the table through the entire ‘negotiation’ (debacle).

AA+: Mission Accomplished, Barry!

==

So, now I must attempt to explain in writing what I mean by labeling the President of the United States a ‘traitor.’ Otherwise, I might have to waste a lot of time explaining it to gub’ment agents (some of whom may even be friends and neighbors) in person.

It’s bigger than him. It’s the ideological crowd he runs with. This cabal is the American Progressive Left -now effectively running the Democrat Party, holding a practical monopoly over the biased MSM (save Fox) that so willingly carries Democrat Party water, directing the Leftist indoctrination camps so many of your public school and university systems have become, and infesting the regulatory bureaucracies that have their boot on the throat of your economy.

This cabal is essentially ‘treasonous’ for the following reason: they are *not* ‘patriotic’ in the traditional sense of the word. If we were to define ‘patriotic’ as putting the interest of the citizens of the United States above all other considerations, they are manifestly *not* patriotic. Their ideology is manifestly ‘post-patriotic’ in that it seeks to heal the entire world (as impossible as this pursuit is), proceeding from the basic assumption the citizens of the United States of America are the source of all the world’s ills (as misguided as this analysis is). You, dear reader, are the problem – and the American Progressive Left is the self-appointed ruling elite that simply *must* fix you, to save the world. It is their self-appointed ideological mission.

Their archetype is Obama’s Red Diaper Baby Sibling in the White House’s inner sanctum, Valerie Jarrett.

Thusly, they will *not* relax their practical moratorium on Gulf oil drilling (aka the biggest driver of the Gulf States’ economies). Thusly they *will* have to be dragged kicking and screaming into every red cent of deficit reduction on the gub’ment spending side – because their ideology is in effect the religion of gub’ment spending. This religion requires ever increasing amounts of wealth confiscation (that is, gub’ment revenue) to sustain it.

This religion of theirs *requires* them to place tactical politics above any ‘patriotic’ (traditional definition) concerns. The still building ‘Fast and Furious’ scandal is the proof of this.

This religion of theirs is also extraordinarily cynical. It causes them to attempt to shift blame for the consequences of not reducing gub’ment spending on to the very people who seek to reduce gub’ment spending.

Today’s Leftist talking point to blame the TEA Party movement for being in total agreement with Standard and Poor’s downgrade decision is just the tip of the iceberg for the 2011-2012 Leftist Watch outlook. This outlook is ugly. This religion of theirs instructs them they *must* *never* voluntarily relinquish political power. LAS once again predicts a growth economy for his JAUL Gallery.
