So, you’ve stumbled onto my humble little blog. Perhaps you are a Millenial wondering why most of your friends aren’t fully employed. Or wondering why ObamaKare is being shoved down your throat. Or why your generation is on the hook for a national debt that stands at $17 $18 Trillion and counting. Maybe you are scratching your head wondering why your President thinks Global Warming the weather is more worrisome than Islamic Terror. And perhaps you’ve started to become aware there might be something the corrupt and biased lame stream media isn’t telling you. The answer, to these and other existential questions, is ... the Left - specifically, the modern American Progressive. Think of this site as a portal to a richer understanding of this answer, a portal purposely designed with a consciously cock-eyed bent to keep it entertaining. Because the First Amendment is forever and the Internet never forgets. (Plus you better figure out FICA isn't the name of a Swedish bikini model, before she eats your entire paycheck.)

How to use the portal? You could dive into my archive*. I was most active here 2010-2012, but that matters not. How many times do I need to demonstrate the central point? To wit, the political / ideological Left is a menace to the constitutional republic and must be resisted lest the American experiment in liberty devolve into socialist dystopia. If it's the more pointed hand-to-hand combat of the comment board that whets your appetite, click the 'My Disqus Comments' widget. I continue to visit that world from time to time as a light diversion. Or you could browse through my blog roll. It's a very representative collection of center-right blogs, though hardly exhaustive. I can't do the political / ideology thing 24x7, and you probably can't either. Leave that to the hysterical, talking point chanting, mob agitating, race baiting, election stealing, gaia worshiping, straw man torching, Islamic Terrorist appeasing, organized Left (aka OFA, MSNBC, UAW, SEIU, Think Progress, Media Matters, most of legacy media, the politically correct faculty lounge, anybody who belonged to Journolist, anybody connected to Occupy Wall Street, anything funded by George Soros or Tom Steyer, their paid Internet trolls, and the rest of the usual Team Leftie suspects).

There Ought To Be a Law

Democrats love passing laws to solve problems real, imagined, and caused by the last law they passed.

Here's how it goes. People can't afford health care insurance.  So, pass a law mandating they purchase the thing they can't afford under penalty of a fine.  You get the idea.

Except when it comes to reasonable measures to ensure the sanctity of the "one person one vote" franchise.  Here's why, kiddies.

That's the "Field Director" for the Democrat campaign in the 8th District of Virginia - my district. His name is Patrick Moran. He's the son of the boozy corruptnik running for a 12th term sitting in this congressional seat - Jim Moran. Jim Moran's brother is Brian Moran, now chairman of the Virginia Democrat Party. This is as institutionally Democrat as it gets, folks. Stealing elections is in their blood ... from before Papa Joe Kennedy and Richard Daley rigged Cook County to tip the national election for JFK, all the way through ACORN and the rest we occasionally see rising to the surface to this day. No thanks to the corrupt and biased lame stream media of course. The republic is blessed to have Project Veritas operating at this critical point in history.

Virginia requires me to show a photo Id at the ABC store. But anything with my name and address - perhaps a thousand pieces of paper I've thrown in the trash - will do to steal my vote. I think I'll have my driver's license with me on November 6th - in case I want to buy some booze on the way to the polls.

Update 10/26/2012

When the local cops go after the local family syndicate, it's worth noting.

And if a photo id can be found inside the Empty Suit, you know anybody can acquire one.

In a tangentially related note, I dropped by Chris Plante's WMAL promotion, Politics and a Pint, yesterday. I can report the patriotic spirit, and the expectation of a Mittens win, was very high among the assembled right wing nuts. This observation correlated with the look on Wolf Blitzer's face I saw, watching his CNN show from the bar. Poor Wolf looked liked a kid who had just discovered his bike had been stolen, as he performed his assigned duties covering the Benghazi cover-up and election prospects.

Munsters Ticket Takes 2-0 Lead In Big Debate Series

According to poll after poll after poll rolling off the presses, Crazy Uncle Joe Biden's "Mad Max the Debater" schtick was off-putting to a wide majority of viewers / voters.

Team Obama is in a real pickle now.

==

When the Empty Suit Known as Barack Hussein Obama skipped his homework and sleep-walked through debate number one, delivering what I heard even one of his own operatives describe as a "ritalin-soaked" performance, he set in motion a quick series of self-inflicted campaign wounds that will cost him this election.

Team Obama's entire campaign strategy has been based on lying to the American people about their opponents' policies and their opponents' characters. Anyone who knew everything they knew about Governor Romney and Congressman Ryan through Obama campaign ads would have naturally assumed they were both monsters. Team Obama has gone so far as a thinly veiled charge of murder leveled at the Governor, and not-so-transparent claims the Congressman enjoys pushing Grandmothers off of cliffs for sport. The only thing they haven't done is make the obvious leap to Herman and Eddie Munster for comic relief. We here at LAS, including the staff cartoonist, are not so slow on the uptake, however.

==

When I announced my support of Newt Gingrich for the GOP Presidential nomination on this blog on the Lord's day November 16th of 2011, I offered the following rational.
...the GOP nominee will be facing what liberals like to label an “uneven playing field” in the biased press. The road to the White House for a GOP nominee goes through the televised debates with the incumbent, because that is the forum offering the most impactful opportunity to by-pass the media and influence the electorate directly. Think Reagan vs. Carter and “There you go again.”

Among the available options, the best debater in the room is far and away Newt Gingrich. Newt will most assuredly reduce the Empty Suit Known as Barack Hussein Obama to a babbling fool in any debate format not moderated by a teleprompter. Defeating the Empty Suit Known as Barack Hussein Obama in 2012 is simply paramount above all other considerations. For this reason, Newt Gingrich must be the GOP nominee. We can leave nothing to chance in 2012.
I was of course right on target identifying the debate series as the penultimate tactical objective for this campaign. However, I wholly underestimated Team Obama's capacity to shoot themselves in the foot.

Team Obama was hammered in Debate #1 because they set up the circumstances allowing Mittens to win just by showing up and being himself. The real Willard Mitt Romney is so unlike the opposition campaign's caricature, his actual policies so not the ridiculous lies that have been aired - all he had to do was be polite and tell the truth to reset everything. Which he did. Mittens did his part ... and Barry turned it into a blowout by assuming he would get his usual affirmative action pass from the press, which led to him showing up totally unprepared.

In the search for excuses, Team Obama decided the mild mannered Mittens had "bullied" the poor pitiful Quota President. So, Team Obama sent out Crazy Uncle Joe to turn up the crazy in Round 2. They calculated it was necessary to re-energize their "base." The problem they have here, however - the problem they always have - is their "base" is at most 20% of the electorate. Whenever they have to fire up their base in plain view of everyone else, they inevitably lose ground with the precious "independents" that swing elections. Which Crazy Uncle Joe just did.

Now, for round three, the scuttlebutt is the Empty Suit Known as Barack Hussein Obama plans to come out swinging against the "bully" Mittens. I suppose he has no choice now - but it will inevitably bite into his only remaining campaign asset: personal likability. The contrast with the first debate is bound to have millions of Americans asking themselves "do we really know who this guy is?" Not a good set up for a guy who is famous for keeping so much hidden about himself. And he has no one to blame but himself and his own campaign for the making of this trap.

I can't wait for round three. The only thing Team Obama will have left afterward is angry rhetoric about non-existent wars on women. The Democrat party will then have no choice but to update its mascot to ...

Demotivational Progressive Talking Heads

Fact #1: Ryan Plan leaves all current Medicare patients, and anyone above age 55 for that matter, untouched.

Fact #2: Obamacare rips $700B (seven hundred billion dollars) out of the shaky hands of today's Medicare patients.

Demotivational "Good Morning America"

As anyone who might be reading this post obviously already knows, a lunatic in Colorado committed a heinous act of mass murder at a movie screening. The murderous act of lunacy occurred in the wee hours as Thursday was transitioning into the subsequent Friday.

As the two hacks pictured were preparing for the Friday morning "Good Morning America" show - what maybe four hours later or so? - the cracker-jack investigative journalists at ABC News had performed a heroic text search on the Google machine. This heroic action yielded the existence of the shooter's name on a local TEA Party web site. Ah-hah!

Of course, as the reader may also already know, the linkage was factually blown up that same morning. The hacks were forced to apologize for their pathetic incompetence, and these hacks have endured a fire storm of deserved criticism. Most of that criticism seems to have diagnosed incompetence, unconscious bias, or a combination of both.

==

Newsflash: the correct diagnosis is intentional bias.

These propagandists are active agents for the political Left. Period. End of sentence. They salivate at the chance to create story lines and narratives assisting the cause of their politics. Even when doing so not only gives the perception of foolish incompetence, but also gives off the putrid stench of incredibly bad taste. Trying to make political hay out of murder victims ... really? While the bodies are still warm? Before the criminal's apartment has been searched - because it's booby trapped, just waiting there to create more senseless mayhem? Yes - because there is an ideological agenda to further, and furthering the ideological agenda is first, second, and third for each and every dedicated Leftist.

The contemporaneous post, and related comment thread, on Paco Enterprises captures what I mean from another angle.
Oh, he could just taste it, yes, indeedy! The kudos of his fellow talking airheads, the biggest scoop of the year - who knows, maybe even an Emmy Award for investigative journalism. James Holmes was the name of the mass murderer at the cinema complex in Aurora, Colorado, and, by golly, there was a James Holmes listed on a local Tea Party web site! ABC News' Brian Ross, ace reporter, had scored!
It is human nature to seek the approval of one's peers, and this is a peer group trapped inside a case of 'Group Think' dementia of the highest order. In other words, they are *useless* in relation to their supposed function of informing the public.

==

Brian Ross has therefore been added to the board of the Schieffer Blog Roll, on my right sidebar, as the ABC representative ...

The original honoree - representing CBS - was Bob Schieffer, for failing to ask Eric "My People" Holder, of the Department of Just Us, about dropping the New Black Panther voter intimidation case. When this issue was page one news. At the time, Schieffer settled on the "incompetence" defense, saying he wasn't prepared because he had just come back from vacation.

It's your yob, man! Either prepare to perform it or delegate the performance of it! The problem is ... I kinda think he already knows that. Schieffer plead down to "incompetence" to cover for lickspittle bootlicking, IMHO.

Andrea Mitchell joined the board when she presented a selectively edited video of NBC's political enemy Mitt Romney, to put him in a negative light ... carrying on the tradition NBC established by selectively editing audio of their political straw man (pinnata?) George Zimmerman.

As far as I know, Ms. Mitchell has not plead down to "incompetence" by way of explanation. Nor has she clarified she presents works of parody, which leaves only one remaining possible explanation for someone feigning objectivity. She's a complete fraud, out to destroy the leading contender to her messiah's throne.

==

Now go put 'Journolist' into the Google machine. I'm tired of explaining the obvious here.

Update 7/24/12 These useless hacks apparently can't even accurately transcribe a telephone interview anymore.

Weekly Status Report

Astute readers of this blog have surely noticed the rate of postings here has dramatically declined during this month of June 2012.  There are several factors at play.

First, there is the professional dimension.  I have been nominated by my boss for two project rescues in a row.  I’ve been doing some big cat herding lately for pay, which means the pro bono blogging needed to take a back seat.

The first rescue is a classic case of a junior Project Manager (the one I replaced) following the form of the administrative process and exercising zero leadership.  Throw in a notoriously difficult executive stakeholder he lacked the chops to go toe-to-toe with, and overworked developers hiding under their desks as a survival response … and people were beginning to notice he couldn’t even baseline a schedule anybody could trust.  The schedule is now base-lined and under my change management control.  The executive stakeholder is sure to continue to be a pain in the a$$ - it’s who she is - but we understand each other now.  I have the attention of the developers, and visible work product is now being created.

The most interesting relationship on this one looks like it will be with the customer relationship manager.  She’s one of those high-strung obsessive compulsives who likes to tell people what to do in minute detail.  For example, on Friday I had no choice but to put an end to an extended email thread with this: “How many ways are there to say something was written, will be reviewed, and then approved?  Point of diminishing returns reached. J.”  We’re working together as a team just fine so far.

The root cause for the second rescue is the complete opposite.  It was driven into the ground by a know-it-all senior engineer that communicated nothing to no one before unveiling what she assumed was a production ready system to the entire enterprise.  Needless to say … a highly visible crash and burn was the result.  I had the kickoff meeting for the restart this past Friday, to assert my dominance over a managed iterative delivery process.  The key stakeholders are meeting with me on Monday to elaborate the scope for delivery iteration 1.

The interesting twist on this one is my boss is a key stakeholder, another is his political rival, who oversaw the disaster, and the executive stakeholder is boss to both of them.  Should be loads of fun.

==

My personal life has also required a good deal of attention to detail lately.  This is not the space to go into further detail.

So, that’s it … the report from the brick and mortar world; the oxygen, carbon dioxide, and H2O world; explaining the blog’s diminished pace for delivering the conservative rants my loyal readership has enjoyed since December 2009.

==

But, even with these real world considerations, the plain  fact is the need for this blog’s mission – “Because the only good Progressive is a failed Progressive” – is disappearing before our very eyes.  By this standard, the Empty Suit Known as Barack Hussein Obama is on a rocket slide toward becoming the best Progressive ever.

The economy still sucks and even gives signs of turning downward again.  This condition is due to the Progressive and Keynesian policy program inflicted upon the republic by the Alinskyite Socialist in the White House:  tax, spend, borrow, and zealously regulate.  When these policies are reversed, by his removal from office, an economic boom will be touched off as trillions of spooked investment dollars currently on the sidelines come roaring back into the economy at large.

Iran’s nuclear weapons program continues apace, due to Barry’s typically defeatist and inert Progressive approach to foreign affairs.  Lucky for western civilization Israel is under management that has no delusions about the need to defend itself.  If and when Israel does what it needs to do, this will not be good political news for the Empty Suit that Began His Worldwide Apology Tour with His Islamic Appeasement Speech in Cairo.

Speaking of Cairo, and naïve Progressive notions about the world at large, the so-called Egyptian ‘Arab Spring’ has resulted in the election of a President beholden to the Muslim Brotherhood (MB).  That’s not the Islamic Shriners, by the way … more like the Islamic MS13.  IMHO, it is fortunate for western civilization that the professional Egyptian Army, very Americanized due to close military-to-military relations for decades, has assumed the powers of the dissolved parliament that was also MB dominated after popular elections.  If the MB wins this power struggle with the Army brass, Egypt’s peace treaty with Israel will be worthless, and there will likely be war in the Sinai desert.  We need new management in DC willing to back the Egyptian Army for the cause of peace.

Returning back to the domestic scene, the #OccupyWhatever mob, behind whom Barry foolishly threw his prestige and sympathy, has reached the stage of terminal irrelevance.  Despite the corrupt and biased liberal media’s best efforts, the #OccupyWhatever mob shall be accurately recorded by history as not much more than a garden variety youth gang crime wave.  Unofficially funded by the Democrat party, that is.

==

Well, you get the picture … Jimmy Carter writ large, for those of you old enough to remember that national disaster - with a side of Saul Alinksy for an extra kick.  Botton line: there is not a snowball’s chance in hell Barry gets re-elected.  Part 26 of the “Newton’s Three Law’s” series will explain further.  LAS has been collecting links to collate into Part 26.  It’s not hard.  All I have to do is browse my way down my blog roll and the myriad of epic failures attributable to the Progressive in the White House jump out at me, as does the growing awareness of the American public, despite the mass hoodwinking being attempted by the corrupt and biased liberal media.

I twice abandoned this month a Jack Wiley Dithers piece, lacking the capacity to fully draft and edit it.  Earlier in the month, when the Campaigner-In-Chief was jetting off on Air Force One to west coast fundraisers while ignoring the D-Day anniversary, I had an idea for a desperate private campaign meeting on the airplane captured by a JWD operative … a flight attendant plant brought on to the JWD payroll for her … ahem .. unique assets.  Later in the month the idea morphed into a long string of desperate campaign conservations captured by a recording device injected into Barry’s favorite basketball … delayed by tedious editing required to remove all the background noise … you know, with all the dribbling.

Try to hang on a little while longer patriots, adult supervision will be coming back to DC soon.

Update 6/27/2012

The old conservative standby, American Spectator, has an excellent blog posting today fleshing out the adult view of conditions in Egypt.

Sunday Morning Read (Washington Examiner Edition)

If I was actually interested in subscribing to a local print newspaper, it would be the Washington Examiner. I’ve known for years, going on decades, now, the Post is unfit to line the rabbit cage. For a long time, the Times was an acceptable substitute, though it always felt a little strident for an open-collar conservative such as myself. This sense was in fact confirmed when the Times failed the little url signature uptightness test I set up during my March 4th Sunday Morning Read post.

Not long ago I noticed print versions of the Examiner popping up around town, and even read a few. I believe print distribution is still free of cost to this day. An appropriate market valued price, because thanks to the Intertubes, I have no interest in reading print newspapers anymore. Plus, again thanks to the Intertubes – or maybe the fact I’ve scratched out my living in the IT field for my entire adult life – I’m starting to experience real trouble physically focusing my eye on the printed word. At least on the laptop I have that zoom thingee to make the words bigger.

I’m no marketing genius, but I think maybe the Examiner is using the print distribution channel as a loss center to maintain visibility for the brand on the street. Those annoying pop-up ads I’m barraged with every time I link to the web site tell me what they think their revenue model is. So, on with today’s Sunday Morning Read …

No, I don’t need any kind of deal, much less a great one, on a Honda … Click!

Commuter Connections! AYFKM! Being tied to three other people’s schedules and trapped two hours a day with them (and their grooming habits) inside a tin can. No thanks, I’d rather go over a waterfall inside a barrel … Click!

David Limbaugh is right. When will the Establishment GOP and their candidate, Country Club Mittens, wise up, take off the gloves, and really go after Obama’s sorry record and radical associations?

If anything could motivate Romney to channel his inner Mittens the Hun, which he’s done before, by carpet bombing GOP primary opponents with negative ads, it would be the sophomoric hit job from Jason Horowitz of the Post, reporting the critically important news that something happened in a school yard 47 years ago. Channeling my inner Dick Cheney, my immediate reaction was … “So?” But, then it only took me a minute or so of further reflection to put it into historical context.

My May 8 Post (“How Stupid *is* My republic?”) stated the following:
I have no doubt future historians will identify the corruptly biased coverage of these two movements [T.E.A. and #Occupy] as the real beginning of the end for old media.
This is true, as a general proposition. But each old media propaganda organ will have have its own unique and specific moment of critical mass for implosion. 'WedgieGate' is it for WaPo. I couldn’t find an appropriately insightful outraged article on the Examiner, so for linkage I’m going with this article I pulled down to my BlackBerry yesterday.

Back to the Examiner

Nope, definitely never – not ever – going to be interested in a Prius … Click!

Will Team Leftie try to replicate the 2008 strategy, spinning the mob into hysterics over “Too Big to Fail.” Maybe. But the question then becomes: why did they spend the last four years making the failed even bigger?

Battle lines are drawn for the lame duck Congress. GOP House passes a bill that reduces domestic spending increases from 125 percent to 123 percent, and Donkey Party hacks prepare the big lie this is a draconian spending cut. Or maybe it’s the revenue raised by taking a tiny bite out of the gilded pensions federal bureau-weenies enjoy. Let’s send the lame duck Congress unambiguous instructions in the upcoming election … it’s the Gub’ment Spending, Stupid!

Well, I guess Michael Barone has to write about something. He has deadlines to meet. The answer is 1980, Mr. Barone.

I don’t believe this guy can teach me any language in less than 10 days … Click!

Star Parker adeptly connects the gay marriage distraction – which is really a fund raising tactic that will turn out to be a net vote loser for BHO – to a real issue. Why is Team Leftie all for “choice” when it comes to aborting fetuses, but totally against “choice” for parents in the determination of public schooling for living children? The answer, of course, is Team Leftis has turned the public school system, with its public sector unionized monopoly, into an indoctrination mill for your children.

Scott Rasmussen has noticed resistance is futile for the “Political Class.” We the People have had it up to here (placing hand horizontally across Adam’s apple).

Happy Mother's Day.

Update 7:30 pm

Old media. Sheesh.

I began drafting this post prepared to praise The Examiner for having a thicker skin online than most old media … as they have a history of accepting my harmless url signed snark. Then I noticed comments on their board, full circle linked from this post, disappearing. Trust me, I was very methodical in my experimentation.

My comment to Barone’s article alerted him to the blindingly obvious conclusion his 1980 scenario is already underway. Note carefully Barone is co-founder of the operation (with Byron York). We shall now continue.

My comment to the JP Morgan misstep story supported letting banks fail and breaking them up into smaller units, rather than hiring more useless bureau-weenies (um, regulators) onto the public teat to stand by for the next bailout.

My comment to the GOP budget article called out Dennis Kucinich (D-Mars) for hyperventilating a 123% increase in spending is somehow a draconian cut.

My comment on the Star Parker article was a simple compliment congratulating her on an excellent leap in logic.

My comment to Rasmussen’s article was a mid-length rant on Richard Lugar’s non-utility to the Conservative Ascendancy at this time. Most specifically, his arrogant claim Dick Mourdock won’t “get anything done.” If the mild-mannered Mourdock helps end the fiscal insanity go-along-to-get-along RINO Lugar has assisted in creating, that will be plenty enough for me.

These comments are no longer there. The one original comment remaining – the simple statistics related in response to the David Limbaugh piece - is reply linked parent and child. Draw your own inferences.

Barry's Baffling Boondoggle to Afghanistan

Did you hear the Empty Suit Known as Barack Hussein Obama gave a campaign speech to the American people from Afghanistan? I’m sure you must have, because his lickspittle propagandists in the mainstream media made it their mission to ensure you did.

I’ve scoured the Intertubes looking for the price tag passed on to the taxpayers for Barry’s Baffling Boondoggle. Well, actually, I entered a simple search phrase into Google’s search engine, and the only actual estimate on page one did not come from any mainstream media source. The best answer I could find on page one was a ‘back of the envelope’ estimate from a 3 year old trip to the same locale. The citizen estimate came out to around three million bucks.

That’s one expensive nothing-burger in the slowest economic recovery since the Great Depression. But chump change compared to the now more than five *trillion* bucks of new national debt the Empty Suit has bequeathed the republic with his failed governance. So I’ve chosen to ‘largely ignore’ this calculated diversion. (That’s a dig at the MSM constantly describing the violent mob known as OWS with the mealy-mouthed phrase 'largely peaceful.')

I will only note one stylistic point that has escaped the attention of every other analyst (as far as I can tell). Am I the only one who has noticed Barry has the annoying habit of striking the lectern with his hand to punctuate statements, in the manner of a petty dictator? Just listen to the continuous thump-thump-thump rhythm on the ubiquitously available video of Barry’s speech. It’s enough to make a guy nostalgic for Benito Mussolini, Adolf Hitler, Nikita Kruschev, or even Dwight Schrute.

==

No, I choose instead to catalog the lengthy list of bad political news for Team Obama that he and his slavish water-carriers in the corrupt and biased liberal media wish to distract you away from noticing, by staging and promoting Barry’s Baffling Boondoggle to Afghanistan.

A ‘white hispanic’ (the new media term coined for George Zimmerman) going by the name of Jose Rodriquez, who also happens to be the former CIA Director of CIA Clandestine Operations, is doing the book promotion tour thing – and exposing Team Obama’s mendacious politics in relation to enhanced interrogation techniques employed against illegal enemy combatants in the War on Terror.

Previously unknown to anyone, Elizabeth Warren, Team Obama’s candidate to reclaim the Ted Kennedy Senate seat from Scott Brown, is apparently a ‘white Cherokee’ - and disappointed she didn’t get the high cheek bones.

Team Obama’s shock troops in the Occupy movement – known here as Barry’s Malingering Mob of Maladjusted Malcontents – made a generally very unimpressive street level showing during the big ‘general labor strike’ on the May Day.

Obama’s Solicitor General, fresh from having his ass handed to him in Supreme Court arguments on the ObamaCare individual mandate, just took it on the chin again in oral arguments over Arizona SB 1070.

One of Team Obama’s many unaccountable Czars of Some Damn Thing is feeling the blowback for some very uncivil political discourse.

Team Obama’s Attorney General, Eric “My People” Holder, is on the fast track to conviction for contempt of Congress based on his stone walling of the Fast and Furious investigations.

==

To sum up, I couldn’t say it any plainer than columnist Michael Goodwin – Obama is Desperate and It Shows.

Obama will do anything, say anything, to distract attention from his failed record of governance.

His foreign policy is a complete train wreck – the one and only public “success” is OBL’s assassination, which any President would have ordered and no American has any problem with. So ‘gutsy!’ When this week’s spiking of the football celebration is over, he has nothing else of substance to point to. And foreign policy will take a back seat to his lousy economy in this election, anyway. So, basically, he has nothing of substance to run on – except the predictable politics of division and gub’ment income redistribution panders he will drag out of the Leftist ideological grab bag. Running around the country falsely ginning up fears of student loan interest rate increases shows the template that will be repeated again and again.

Which is why my next substantive post has the working title ‘How Stupid *is* My Republic?’

And the Winner of the 'Josef Goebbels Award' For Journalistic Malpractice is ...

The 'most trusted name in news'? Really?

Brian Williams is a shameless hack in the filthy partisan propagandist tradition of Dan Rather.

(*True story: While a cadet at The Citadel, on the big day of Dan Rather's big speech to the cadets, as the biased hack Rather was strutting down to the podium, alongside his host Major General James A. Grimsley, then President of the school, through the assembled rows of cadets, LAS recalls the following ... when the biased hack was no more than 10 feet to my right, LAS coughed 'commie!' into his hand 'Animal House' style. The only thing I can't remember for sure is whether it was when I was a junior holding the lofty title cadet staff sergeant or a senior holding the even more lofty title cadet captain.)

Update 4/7/12

Conservative Hideout 2.0 does a weekly link around that is nothing if not impressive in its completeness. If you were to read nothing but this link around once a week, you would be infinitely more informed than the standard issue registered Democrat drone getting his or her propaganda from MSNBC, CNN, and the Daily Show. Author Matt neatly rounds up events from this week - the week that may be remembered as the week the corrupt and biased MSM began its final slide into general and total disgrace - with these succinct and articulate words ...
NBC was caught selectively editing the Zimmerman 911 call audio to make him appear to be racist. ABC’s video was shown to display Zimmerman’s injuries. CNN re-anylized the 911 audio, and determined that Zimmerman did not use a racial slur. And MSNBC? They brought new meaning to the word failure, including running a satirical post from the Daily KOS as a serious news story.

Then, President Obama played Alinsky with the SCOTUS, insisting that they cannot overturn a democratically passed law, like DOMA. Oh wait, that’s not the law in question, is it? And, following that logic, Prop 8 should be just fine, right?

Unemployment numbers were spun, but the fact remains that the the economy “created” approximately 100,000 less jobs than projected, and there are now a record number of Americans out of the workforce entirely. Franky, I think that this is a planned outcome. The more people that are out of the workforce, the more people that are dependent on government. Our POTUS might think that by keeping the people on the government drug, they will vote for him in November.

Commenter Matt, also a highly respected blogger at Conservative Hideout 2.0 points out the Sad Hill image of gangsta Trayvon has been labeled a fake. In my response, I explain how it is no matter to my thread. The corrupt and biased MSM frames Zimmerman by misreporting and omitting key facts, Sad Hill blog responds directly in the heat of the rhetorical fight, I see Sad Hill's work, and create my erudite version of the same. On Hayek’s “Fatal Conceit” and BHO’s Energy Policy

Recent political events have brought to the forefront of LAS’ mind F.A. Hayek’s pithy concept of the ‘fatal conceit.’  Hayek, of course, is remembered as the founder of the Austrian school of free-market economic theory – later carried forward by the so-called Chicago school under Milton Friedman.

The basic idea of the ‘fatal conceit’ concept – specifically applied to economics - is this: no one is smart enough to direct the exchange of resources in any economy of any appreciable scale.  Not a single person ever born or who will ever be born is that smart.  The market must be allowed to freely produce profit and loss signals to producers and consumers for an economy to function and grow.

When the market is replaced by the directives of a centralized command and control authority, both producers and consumers are reduced to beggars seeking favors from an omnipotent but hardly omniscient god-state run by fallible people.   This dysfunctional beggar citizenry is what we have come to mock with the label ‘crony.’  We have our crony capitalists (producers), such as Buffet and Immelt, seeking favorable advantage by short-cutting the market with favors dispensed by the dispensers of gub’ment favors.  But we also have crony consumers  throughout the republic  - such as anyone buying Obama’s latest line that the pathetic little payroll tax cut given to you out of his philanthropic instincts (a pander) is an offset to the rise in gas prices for which he has no responsibility (a lie).

Socialism in every one of its forms rejects market forces - and therefore inevitably degrades into a society broken down as 99% beggar citizenry seeking alms from 1% ruling elite.  The point is proven by a simple compare and contrast of conditions in East vs. West Europe, East vs. West Germany, and East vs. West Berlin immediately after we won the Cold War.  The Cold War (in Europe) was a giant social / economic experiment conducted on two groups of culturally and historically identical people living under two distinct systems.  The plainly observable economic conditions on each side, when the Berlin Wall finally came down, could not have been more black and white.

==

This book review of Hayek’s so-called “collected works” explains the concept of the fatal conceit as the false idea "man is able to shape the world around him according to his wishes."

As I recall many of my high school classmates exclaiming from time to time ... "yeah, right!"

(Note: Before you buy the book, the last of Hayek’s career, read this more in depth review including the history of the book’s creation. LAS does not want to be responsible for consumer disappointment.)

And via the magic of the Intertubes, I have come across this excellent definition of the fatal conceit concept, as it applies to socialism in particular.

Socialism fails, unavoidably, because it is based on the flawed concept, the “fatal conceit,” that one man or one group, one cabinet of commanding officials or one central committee, or one team of planners from Harvard and Yale, can gather and understand enough information in order to reshape the world around them according to their wishes, reshape human nature, and design an economic system that can outstrip the overall and long run performance of the decentralized and basically self-ordering and spontaneous processes of the marketplace.

==

Having now probably expended too many words on establishing a conceptual baseline for this humble post … for the modern blog reader, that is ... let us now return our attention to the original point of the post – recent news from the field on the topic of fatal conceit.

Let’s start with the energy policy coming from the Empty Suit Known as Barack Hussein Obama, which can only be described as a product of Andrew Klavan’s “Imagination Land.”

In one breath, the Empty Suit tells us drilling for more oil on American land won’t lower gas prices at the pump, yet in the next he tells us convincing Saudi Arabia to drill for more oil will achieve the same end. Huh? Perhaps he’s actually a super patriot with a secret strategy to get them to exhaust their reserves before we exhaust ours!

On the one hand, he derides oil as the energy of the “past”, and on the other hand lauds windmills – which have been around for centuries – as an energy of the “future.” I like Rush Limbaugh’s rule … talk to me about the energy of the future when you have something other than oil that can lift a jet airplane off the ground and keep it there. Nuclear might fit the bill … but I’m afraid it would entail too large a regulatory bureaucracy. You know, for the crash investigations.

Nuclear is a very efficient generator of electricity when kept stationary, produces zero carbon emissions in the process … and so naturally the Empty Suit’s administration insists on closing more nuclear plants. His EPA is closing coal-fired plants, too – on the grounds they produce too many carbon emissions. The alternatives they push – wind, solar, and now algae – produce not a scintilla of a percentage of the existing demand. Yet they exhort us to increase demand for plant produced electricity by driving electric cars. WTF, Barry?

Simply the Energy Policy From Imagination Land. As it can only come from BHO and his corrupt gang of progressives, faculty lounge wankers each and every one, adding up to zero days real world private sector experience.

==

Meanwhile, the real world relentlessly moves forward governed by the immutable laws of supply and demand …

Gas Prices rise precipitously, naturally. But that’s actually what they want – just not until *after* the election. BHO’s Secretary of Energy – Nobel Prize winning physicist Steven F. Chu - said he didn’t want lower gas prices before saying he didn’t really mean it. Look it up yourself on the Google machine. What I said.

The Consumer Price Index increases, in large part due the increase on gas prices at the pump. Then … drum roll please … something happens to really catch the Empty Suit’s attention - his approval ratings tank. (They will go lower. Mark it.)

How can this be! They’ve already worked it out in the faculty lounges! They imagine it and it will be! What is wrong with you people! Then the fatal conceit taps them on the shoulder and informs them the only possible explanation is … you’re stupid.

That’s what explains how a card-carrying member of BHO’s Information Ministry – aka the corrupt and biased Leftist media – was able to go out and give this disgracefully unreflective performance. The inflection in the voice of this pinhead John Harris – whoever the hell he is – each and every time he spews the word ‘stupid’ - makes it perfectly clear what he thinks of you. (memo to the pinhead Harris: Regarding the Muslim thing, dopey Mr. Harris, BHO technically is Muslim, according to the Islamic rule that the paternal religion determines the religion of the offspring. And note BHO’s faux Christianity makes him an ‘infidel’ in the very same Islamic code of law. Better not drop that Secret Service protection when a private citizen, Barry.)

Of course BHO himself received a telegram from the fatal conceit messenger. It instructed him to go out to a local community college to give an embarrassingly slapstick (read ‘unpresidential’) speech serving red meat to his devoted followers … ably refuted by conservative yeoman Charles Krauthammer. (Have your people call my people, Charles.)

Here’s the bottom line, kiddies. Fatal conceit will be the character flaw primarily responsible for BHO’s defeat at the polls in November. Mark it.

Footnote

My dog dragged in an ancient outdoor chew toy today. I wonder if the accumulated algae could power the battery of the smart phone that snapped this photograph. For that matter … if the entire chew toy were magically converted to a giant lump of algae, and used as the power source for this laptop … how many of these words could have been produced? Not many, I’ll wager. Alright, time to remove the disgusting chew toy and see what the real world has in store next. Good night, dear reader.

War

Today I introduce a new widget at the top of this blog. It is a portal to what will be remembered as the most important web site launched in 2012 - www.breitbart.com.

This website was designed by an extraordinary staff of citizen journalists assembled by this patriot.

This patriotic effort begins the inexorable process of hammering the final nail in the coffin of the corrupt and biased Leftist mainstream media. God speed to each of Breitbat-Dot-Com's generals, lieutenants, and foot soldiers.

The Evolution of a Narrative

(Or, today’s seminar in Progressive politics)

By now, I suspect you, dear reader, have heard of this pathetico …

Future historians will note the pitiful wretch known as Sandra Fluke as nothing but a useful idiot for Team Leftie’s maniac assault on the constitution, American values, and the American people.

It is worth reviewing for those future historians how we have come to this ridiculous place – giving a 30 year old entry-level Leftist activist her 15 minutes of fame … for improbably (just look at her!) claiming the volume of heterosexual intercourse in which she engages is so large it must be underwritten by a federal mandate.

==

In the very first act of this political farce, Barack Hussein Obama’s tyrannical progressive administration did what it came to town to do – piss all over the constitution. This time (and, trust me, it won’t be the last, either), it was trashing First Amendment religious freedoms by attempting to dictate to the Catholic church it must provide coverage for contraceptives in health insurance plans, church conscience notwithstanding.

A firestorm of righteous indignation arose across the republic - proving all of us have not been converted into meek subjects of the state, not just yet. I, for my part, am quite satisfied with my meager contemporaneous contribution to the national debate:

Feeling the heat, Team Leftie attempted to deflect criticism with an accounting trick. The Empty Suit Known as Barack Hussein Obama came out to the podium and announced he had a ‘compromise’ to offer the church. The burden of the cost for the mandate would be shifted from the church to the insurance companies with which the church contracts. This empty offer belied three truths: [1] The extent to which the insurance industry has already been co-opted by Team Leftie as crony capitalists, [2] an assumption of profound economic stupidity (who thinks the insurance companies don’t pass these costs on to all customers?), and [3] Team Leftie is hell bent on boring ahead toward a single-payer gub’ment run health care state by whatever means necessary.

To its’ enduring credit, the Catholic church did not accept the fake ‘compromise’ proposal, choosing not to hide behind a billing procedure while throwing its’ religious conscience under the bus – which is the Faustian bargain Team Leftie was really offering.

And to his credit, doing his job as chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, Representative Darrell Issa (R-CA) called for hearings on the constitutionality of what this blog has labeled the ‘Institutional Mandate’ (albeit as a commenter on the Glittering Eye blog).

As Byron York of the Washington Examiner reports, Nancy Pelosi and the crooked gang of Team Leftie hacks she runs with in the House immediately set out to make a mockery of the hearing.

"The Democrats played games with us the day before [the hearing]," says a Republican committee source. "After days of asking for a witness, they waited until the last minute, the afternoon before the hearing. They asked us to invite Rev. Barry Lynn [head of Americans United for Separation of Church and State] and Ms. Fluke. We said we'll invite one, per standard procedure. We formally invited Rev. Lynn, and the Democrats, at 4:30 pm, changed their mind and said they wanted Fluke. We said too late. They told Rev. Lynn not to show up the next day."
When the hearing took place, Democrats proceeded to clobber Republicans. "Where are the women?" asked New York Rep. Carolyn Maloney as she looked at the all-male first panel for the hearing. (Two women testified in the hearing's second panel, but Maloney and her fellow Democrats ignored that.)

Then, last week, Rush Limbaugh was simply Rush Limbaugh. He delivered satirical conservative commentary on this matter no different in spirit than that which I offer here. He made the mistake of using a couple of highly charged words – ‘slut’ is the word most often referenced – and Team Leftie swung into coordinated action to denounce, demonize, and destroy their ideological enemy.  Because it's what they do.

Last weekend’s talking heads news cycle dutifully played along – both dyed-in-the-wool leftists as willing collaborators and establishment faux conservatives as patsies. The Media Research Center’s Brent Baker ably explained …

No love on the Sunday morning television talk shows for Rush Limbaugh, not even a mild defense as the unifying theme was disappointment in Mitt Romney for not denouncing the leading national conservative talk radio host. “The problem with Rush Limbaugh,”

As far as I’m concerned, the defeatist establishment conservatives (Will, Noonan, et al.) are playing right into Team Leftie’s hands by going along with the narrative change (from First Amendment rights to trumped up indignation around policing speech about women.)

Newt Gingrich handled it much better in this slap down of David Gregory. This performance is: (a) a video seminar on how to handle the corrupt and biased Leftist media, and (b) another demonstration of why Newt is the best available GOP candidate in this cycle.

We need to beat Team Leftie at their own rotten game. When they change the subject to prepare the personal attacks, we need to change it back to the real issues and take the debate directly to the Empty Suit Known as Barack Hussein Obama.

Rush’s explanation on Monday was also a pretty good demonstration, in which he took ownership of his small tactical mistake regarding choice of words, refused to accept the change in narrative, and refocused on the real First Amendment issue.

The republic is going to need more performances like these two this year. Because Team Leftie is highly organized, deeply embedded in the media, and will employ whatever means necessary to keep their man in the White House this election cycle. Because they are far, very far, from done with ‘fundamentally transforming’ America into a statist misery pit in which the gub’ment can mandate anything and everything.

Good thing we have the legacy of Andrew Breitbart to draw on as inspiration for this year’s fight over the republic’s future.

On the Death of Andrew Breitbart

I never had the pleasure of meeting the man. I am, however, completely certain I would have enjoyed his company. His was a transcendent personality … the kind that calls out to all kindred spirits willing to take the initiative to notice.

I must say I have struggled with “how” to “take notice.” It was, naturally, de rigueur, for a blog with this blog’s theme and mission. But, as should be abundantly clear to the most casual observer of this blog, serious commentary is incidental, though not central, to its construction. That is, incidental in a seriously calculated way.

Which makes it difficult to construct serious eulogies.

Then, of course, there is the regular cadence of my own life that I must live, which naturally takes priority over all.  For example, the thirteen year old boy’s house league basketball team just lost their first round playoff game against a lower seed - because they did everything right … except force enough shots via the power of their will to fall inside the rim rather than outside it. Those seven kids learned a great lesson tonight, which was confirmed by the broad smiles on their faces as they left the court losers. No, not the kind of faux satisfaction that comes from the ‘everybody gets a trophy’ Soccer Mom ethos – more the kind of satisfaction that comes from being satisfied by the good fight well fought. Plus, they know they can still plow their way through the loser’s bracket. I expect the disciplined execution of happy warriors to yield a good result beginning with tomorrow’s game.

==

Sure, I could easily envision myself raising a glass to the man.

And, sure, while struggling with the “how” to “take notice” question – via my well worn method of strolling down the Bob Schieffer Blog Roll - I could have simply reprinted one of many takes encapsulating some aspect of my own feeling – like this treatise on how he taught conservatives to commit principled provocation (kind of like stealing a rebound).

==

Then it came to me, in my own quirky way, whilst listening to my Pandora Radio feed on my more or less nightly stroll down the Bob Schieffer Blog Roll.

Astute readers of this blog may have noticed I am a Kinkophile, musically – meaning, of course, I enjoy the music of The Kinks to an unexplainable and unaccountable visceral degree. It’s an undiagnosed mental disease. Just ask Ray or Dave Davies.

Nevermind the transitional Kinks period these videos document, from the early 70’s art house incarnation to the late 70’s arena rock incarnation. (The girl singers are good, aren’t they? Too bad they don’t fit the format next year. And who the hell is that bass player, anyway?)

No, it’s the ethos of the perfectly crafted songs ‘Misfits’ and 'Celluloid Heroes' that I wish to offer as a eulogy for the great Andrew Breitbart.

Breitbart was the misfit warrior for all misfits. Raised in ultra-liberal Hollywood, he had the courage to fight, really fight, that is, for the opposite of what he had been spoon-fed. Because it’s what he felt and believed – no other reason.

If anyone deserves a place on Hollywood Boulevard – it is Andrew Breitbart. Period. End of Sentence.

Update 3/3/12

Upon review of the original post, I have decided a few words on how I mean the reader to take the term 'misfit' are in order. It does not mean unable to function in the civil society, or functioning at a low level. It means quite the opposite - functioning at a high level due to being the square peg that does not fit the round hole erroneously assigned by the civil society. The highly functioning misfit is the invaluable personality the collectivist / statist mentality disregards as inconvenient. The highly functioning misfit animates the Libertarian Conservative / classically liberal ethos. Andrew Breitbart was the most awesome square peg in the giant round hole that is ultra-liberal Hollywood. He refused to sit down and shut up, like today's Leftist media / entertainment / gub'ment orthodoxy instructs conservatives to do constantly. That's what I meant by eulogizing Andrew Breitbart as a 'misfit warrior for all misfits.'

The Music Festival For The 2012 Election

An all-English (geriatric edition) virtual concert documenting the zeitgeist of the coming election.

Opening things up ... The Kinks, in their art house incarnation, giving us Acute Schizophrenia Paranoia Blues ... for the anti Patriot Act crowd, some of whom may have knee-jerked a hopey-changey vote in '08 to help put the republic in its current predicament.

Next up is Ten Years After, with one for the now thoroughly disillusioned October 2011 Occupy Wall Street wave of maladjusted malcontents, who learned the hard way throwing public temper tantrums is not a persuasive form of argument - I'd Love To Change the World.

But, of course, Van Jones and the rest of Team Leftie are not done with their self-appointed mission to replace capitalism with socialism. So, the next one is for the next wave of lunatic occupiers they will unleash on the republic this spring and summer ... Street Fighting Man, by the Rolling Stones, appropriately in their advanced age to represent the arthritic state of Team Leftie's ideology.

Pink Floyd will now perform Sheep from the Animals album, complete with a grandiloquent visual presentation notably appropriate to the Floyd as it would be for no one else ... for the clueless independent voters that are destined to swing the most important general election of my lifetime.

The next one is for the corrupt and biased liberal media - which will do their deceitful best to misrepresent and shade each and every news cycle to guide these clueless independent sheeples toward the media's preferred outcome - Van Jones' preferred outcome, that is. The Wizard, by Black Sabbath ... you will need to translate the Spanish subtitles for yourself, as a metaphor for translating the high grade equine manure the liberal media feeds you daily.

The Kinks, in their arena rock incarnation, return with Low Budget, an ode to the real issue, the issue the corrupt and biased liberal media will do their deceitful best to prevent from being honestly discussed - Barry's dysconomy.

Finally, to predict the full economic recovery that will accrue directly and simply from defeating the Empty Suit Known as Barack Hussein Obama ... Rock and Roll by Led Zeppelin.

Update 2/29/12

The two primaries on the Tuesday before “Super Tuesday” bring a warning for the republic. Mittens squeaks one out in one of his three home states, and proves Jan Brewer’s endorsement, unlike Nikki Haley’s, is worth something. Mittens still has not cleared 50% anywhere.

According to some exit polling, Mittens is garnering a majority of the vote for people who stipulate they are looking for the candidate most likely to defeat Obama. As with so many “majorities,” this one is dead wrong. All I can figure is they are going for the Gary Cooperish matinee idol looks. Newsflash – Obama already has this angle covered – only updated – metrosexual and half-black for modern voter.

As I’ve explained, and will continue to explain until it sinks in, Romney is the opponent Obama wants. Romney lacks the chops to score a knock-out punch on the all-important one-on-one debate stage, and Romney is the Richie Rich villain to cast as the target of Team Leftie’s rotten class warfare message.

I’m not saying Romney can’t beat Obama. I’m saying he makes it harder than anyone else still running, with the one exception of Ron Paul. We still have a long way to go. And in honor of this reality, the music festival continues with the considerable talents of geriatric Englishmen Steve Winwood and Eric Clapton combined, to deliver Can’t Find My Way Home, originally by Blind Faith.

Debate Rumble in Jungle!!!!!

(Because you can’t rhyme ‘rumble’ with ‘desert’, or ‘corrupt and biased propaganda organ’, or ‘CNN’)

I came up with the post title thanks to radio man Chris Plante introducing me to this hilarious piece of slick ‘news’ production from the corrupt and biased hacks at CNN.

==

I tuned in last night just as the candidates were coming on stage, so Mr. Plante’s airing this morning was my first exposure to this hilarious production, obviously designed to frame-up a debate atmosphere the corrupt and biased CNN hacks wanted to be a farce sliming all four Republicans.

As Mr. Plante is eloquently ranting over the AM radio waves even at this moment … yes, CNN’s assigned hatchet man, John King, then went on to orchestrate the whole thing to come off as a Republican food fight over irrelevant and ancient ‘issues.’

King did not deign to mention rapidly rising gasoline prices, the Fast and Furious gunwalking scandal, out of control deficit spending, the ‘occupy’ mobs of maladjusted malcontents roaming the nation and vandalizing everything they touch like the barbarians they are, First Amendment religious freedoms, or anything else currently in the news that could reflect poorly on his messiah – the Empty Suit Known as Barack Hussein Obama. Because he’s there to protect Barry’s flank, plain and simple.

==

But, here’s the central point, kiddies – it is what it is. Whining about it doesn’t help us win the game with the team on the field and inside the defined dimensions of the field. The task is simply to play the game to win (with apologies to Herman Edwards).

This is the media and electoral landscape today. The national media is in the tank for Democrats, period. More and more citizens are noticing, and the national media is thusly becoming more irrelevant every day … but we have a few more years before we can enjoy its final and complete descent into total irrelevance. In other words, we are stuck with the bastards for this election cycle. And it’s a “must win” for the republic – meaning the Saul Alinksy radical in the White House must be defeated, or we are destined to become as financially and morally bankrupt as Greece is today. Also, as I’ve argued before and will continue to argue, the clueless independents that swing general elections will make their decision in the traditional one-on-one September / October debates between the two party nominees.

We need a nominee up to the task of deftly reframing and deflecting the corrupt and biased media’s crooked questions, while simultaneously pounding BHO’s record of abject failure directly and mercilously. It’s a tall order and a hard skill to find. It requires a rare combination of a quick mind and blue collar fighting spirit. That’s what LAS was grading last night. Here is the grade report, left to right.

Ron Paul has too much of a tendency to go off on tangents making him sound like the crazy old uncle I will probably be remembered as. He will instantly become an enduring stock figure for SNL mockery if nominated.

Rick Santorum is getting better as a debater. He’s on the right learning curve but still has a way to go. We need to keep up the competitive primary season to toughen him up for the main event, should he become the nominee.

God help us if Mittens pulls through. He spent most of the night dropping names and picking the irrelevant fights John King teed up for him, like the country club dining room Republican he is. He will be the perfect foil for Barry’s crooked class warfare campaign strategy. He just doesn’t possess the quickness of mind or fighting spirit needed on this field.

Newt proved once again he is the best fit to the task at hand. It was a masterstroke, for example, when he turned one of King’s screwballs on contraception into a reminder Barry has repeatedly voted in favor of Partial Birth Abortion. (That is, pulling a viable late term fetus out of the womb and then sucking its brains out upon its first experience of daylight.) I hope Newt stays in the race until the last gavel is pounded in the convention. If he can’t be the nominee, he’s the best coach the eventual nominee can possibly learn from in the meantime. Start taking notes Mittens, or you may simply be remembered as the hapless establishment GOP’s last loser nominee.

Update 2/24/12

While availing myself of a rare listen to Limbaugh today, I realized the final paragraph to this post needs a correction.  Newt wasn't talking about partial-birth abortion, in which the abortion is successfully performed using the procedure I described, he was talking about allowing an abortionist to kill living infants that survive a botched abortion.  A whole new level of grisly as far as the facts are concerned, but of no matter to the central point - Newt is the deftest debater available.

The timing of this rally is exquisite. The chicken eggs hidden inside the ObamaCare bill are comin' home to roost!

(1) The Supreme Court will be simultaneously reviewing the obvious unconstitutionality of the Individual mandate.

(2) Team Obama has stepped into it big time, politically, by trying to shove contraception down the Catholic church's throat. (see yesterday's LAS post).

(3) And, of course, one of Team Obama's jackbooted progressive brownshirts - the ersatz Catholic known as Rosa DeLauro - was sent out to instruct us in the Washington Post's opinion propaganda pages that it's really about more free stuff for women. (Hat Tip to radio man Chris Plante) I especially love her "fairness" pitch based on the stipulation men can acquire Viagra without a co-pay. Hey, here's an idea - make it "fairer" by making the l*mp d*cks pay for their own damn Viagra.

(4) And last, but not least, the petting zoo known as OccupyDC will still be in town to provide a brilliant contrast. After we assemble, make our point, and pick up after ourselves, we should drop by to review and photograph the camp squalor. iow - do the corrupt and biased liberal MSM's job for them.

BREAKING NEWS: Kabuki on the Square

(AP) - Jack Wiley Dithers reporting.

Today Barry's Park Police cleaned up after Barry's Bolshevik Brigade on the Square.

Operations were "largely peaceful" - only six arrests. All arrested were sent directly to the "joovie," where they belong.

Many dead rats were pulled out of the cess pool formerly known as McPherson Square.  Authorities have speculated the explanation could be Lestat the Vampire has been living in the camp.

The cost of the cleanup operation to the civil society remains uncalculated. Nearby residents reported no cost would be too high to endure.

The remaining occupiers have been sent back to their rooms to continue the whine-fest until Barry finally decides this foolishness is a liability for him. (Memo to Barry:  Too late).

Updates will be provided as necessary. Just not until tomorrow. I have a previous engagement this evening, which history predicts will require much sleep to recover from. I expect the republic will still be there when I awaken.

(AP) - Jack Wiley Dithers reporting.

Update

This somehow became necessary.  Arrest count climbs to eight. Cops assaulted. Still "largely peaceful."

Hat Tip Ironic Surrealism.

Update 2/6/12

McPherson Square gives the observer the surreal image of a tiny scorched earth war zone in the middle of a prosperous city going about its' normal business.

A handful of tents remain, apparently to contain random "stuff" and garbage. A few of the stalwart derelicts are milling about. "Bear" was spotted outside the Vermont Avenue Starbucks wearing his filthy yellow "October 2011 First Aid" tee shirt. The Artist was in his usual corner, with a much smaller tent to protect his creative works, and appropriately wearing a Siberian style (read czarist) fur cap.

No one in camp seems to be able to explain where anyone is sleeping now. Probably accommodations underwritten by Soros, Inc. Unfortunately, decontamination is being underwritten by We The People.

When I asked a Park policeman how the injured cop was doing, his answer was (paraphrasing) "he's doing fine, he's regaining his lost eyesight."

The one man counter protest I blogged about previously was back out on K street with a sign that said "Don't Believe the Liberal Media." The distinct lack of media covering the park's destruction by Barry's Bolshevik Brigade supported his assertion.

An Occupier was taken out of the 15th Street Starbucks by DC EMS on a gurney. I guess that's what sleep deprivation and massive amounts of caffeine will do. No word on whether ObamaCare will cover treatment.

“Because the Only Good Progressive is a Failed Progressive”

Update 2/8/12

The Artist was spotted on the square at approximately 3:30 pm. Pacing in tight circles in the mud, utterly alone, with the beginning of tonight's wintery mix falling down around him. My thought at the time: "poor lost soul." The Pandora radio selection ringing in my ears right now: "I'd Love To Change the World" by Ten Years After. I assume the Park Police on duty tonight won't allow his actual demise to occur on their watch.

Newton's Three Laws (Part 24)

I was determined to retire this series title - really - on the grounds it was looking as old as Joe Namath in his Los Angeles Rams uniform. However, sometimes events conspire to overtake the best intentions of the humble blog author.

The GOP Establishment is positively losing its' collective mind over Newt Gingrich's South Carolina primary win.  Losing its' mind!

This is good for the republic and an absolutely perfect fit for the Newtonian F=M*A theme that has been a big part of this blog.

==

Who exactly is this "GOP Establishment?" I, LibertyAtStake, shall now provide the most succinctly transparent definition available on the Intertubes of this suddenly common term. The "GOP Establishment" is (most, not all) of the collection of people who make their compensated livings working for team (R) in our two party system. It's the career politicians, career staffers, paid pundits, paid pollsters, and all the other paid media hacks who live inside the two party bubble 24 x 7. They have a losing record. Most recently they got wiped out by a Saul Alinsky Communist with no record of achievement beyond the capacity to read a teleprompter and repeat the empty chant "Yes We Can" in at least two languages. Basically, they lost to Ron Burgundy in Al Jolson "black face."

The Establishment GOP also possesses a very personal interest in maintaining the status quo, or something close to it, as the junior partners in your ruling cabal. Their immediate ability to pay their mortgages and pay their kids' tuition bills, and all the other bills, depends upon it. They lined up in lockstep up to six years ago behind the Massachusetts moderate named Mitt Romney - or Mittens, or Sir Mitt of RINO, on this blog.

LAS is here to inform you that's what explains many observations from today's news and opinion feeds. Herewith is a small sampling.

Wall Street Journal Opinionator becomes so unhinged as to draw a false equivalence between Newt and a well-known Cuban mass murderer.

Well known pseudo-conservative David Frum makes the case you should reject Newt because his (Frum's) "Establishment," losers to the Empty Suit in 2008, are frightened by the Newtser. (You can bet they are!)

The Old Grey Lady - and I do mean OLD AND GREY - editorial board takes a stab at dismissing the obviously uncomfortable reality (for them).

You, dear reader, are not buying it, though.  (And good for you!)  The latest measurement taken by the republic's most reliable pollster at this moment - Scott Rasmussen - informs us of a huge tidal wave of support surging in the hurricane prone state of Florida.  (btw - I love Reaganite Republican's "Revenge of the Nerds" gestalt on this link.  It reminds me of the time me and my high school friends donned broken glasses, short sleeve shirts, and pocket protectors to view the original's theatre opening in our particular backwater.  But I digress.)

This is the bottom line, patriots.  Newt Gingrich, as Speaker of the House, balanced the federal budget *and* showed sufficient conviction to shutdown the federal gub'ment in the political fight to get there . Ask Denny Hastert, Blinky Pelosi, or John Boehner if they can lay claim to these accolades. Newt Gingrich has arisen as the "outsider's insider" at this crucial time in history.  Embrace it.  It is what it is.

This confluence has given LAS the opportunity to use the following album cover graphic; which I obtained as a registered user of the best Internet Idea Ever - Pandora Radio.  I had never heard of the band "Elf Power," or their album "Creatures" (under this cover), or the song on this album titled "Let the Serpent Sleep" - but I was instantly entranced by the song when Pandora's algorithms brought the song forward based on my recorded preferences.  The very same Intertubes that made this possible makes the Establishment's resistance to Newt's rise futile.  This graphic captures the gestalt of the grass roots TEA Party fueled Conservative Ascendancy that will record one hell of a Newtonian impact come November 2012.

Don't cede one single inch of the ring to the Establishment, patriots.  They don't deserve it.  They lost to a Saul Alinsky trained Socialist.
